Well, The package was opened when I got them. The seal was torn open. The finish on the lower right side of the grips was all cloudy and looked really poor. The color between the two did not match. That sucks because I liked the design. Now I just can't trust them for a exchange so back they go for a refund. I will buy elsewhere. They need to check items before they ship them. I'll bet these were returned and wound up right back in stock and I'm the sucker who got them. They are going back.

Hello,I want to say, that I think that these grips have the potential to be really beautiful grips, but I am having some frustrations with them. They arrived quickly, but the 1st set that I ordered, when I opened them, the finish was not very good (As seen in the 1st picture). It seems like the finish was scratched and covered in a sticky residue? Not sure, so I called and got a replacement set, which also arrived quickly. I was excited to install the new grips, only to find out that the left side grip does not fit correctly. I will try to sand or trim it with a Dremel tool or file and then touch up with stain. I never dreamed that upgrading my grips would become trips to the UPS store and also having to work on them, to get them to fit. The 3rd photo shows how good they look on the side that fit correctly. Not sure I would recommend these.....Update: I used some sandpaper and was able to sand down the top of the grip, so that it does not interface with the slid lock or safety. See the 4th picture after it was installed.

I ordered the grips with the gold Colt medallion. One of the medallions is nowhere near straight up and down. It looks as if someone just haphazardly glued it in without orientating it. In fairness, the wood is excellent and the checkering is sharp and clean.Not a major thing, just a reflection of poor workmanship on the part of likely one employee. For the price I paid, I'd hope at least a quality control person would have laid eyes on it for 1 sec before shipping it out.

One grip has some finish that didn’t turn out well. The fit was great. The grain and cuts are great. Just the bottom of the left grip don’t look as good as the rest. Installed on a Walther Colt replica 22LR.

I purchased these for my EMP4 Champion and they look fantastic on the new pistol. I have purchased at least 6 grip sets over the last few years and all have been Altamont grips because they just look and feel right on my hand guns. The quality is evident as soon as the box is opened, always great. Another plus is the price point being budget friendly. Thanks again, C BlaineThese grips were made for the standard 1911 and the EMP is a bit different which required that I use a small file at the top of both panels to remove just a touch of wood in order for the slide and thumb safety to have clearance. The process took 10 minutes and the results are beautiful panels installed. Altamont site states they will have Springfield panels available soon but I am one for instant gratification with zero tolerance for waiting.

Everything about these Altamont 1911 grips impressed me from their quality construction, excellent finish, size and fit was perfect. Mounting holes centered exactly over the center of mounting screw bushings. Grip profile proved smooth, with clean edges. Checkering is exact with no burrs or rough cuts.Best of all, they look great and feel great!

I was looking for something different that wasn't going to cost my first born child and ran across these beauties. Just what I was looking for. Not too aggressive but allow for good solid grip. No fit issues, dropped right on. Now the crappy factory screws need to be replaced to go with these grips. They have a good finish on them and all the detail cuts are done well. Very impressed. Will probably end up with more (much to the wife's chagrin)!

Ordered these in Walnut color. Goes nicely with my SR1911 with stainless slide and matte grey frame. Grip texture in similar to springfield XD or other polymer handguns. Plenty of grip but not rough on the hands. Fitment to the bushings and screws is perfect. They don't cover as much of the frame as my original Hogue grips did. Right side grip wasn't quite as long on the top. And both sides seem to cover less of the frame leading up to the front strap. Not a big deal. I'm happy with them. They really stand out.
