Absolutely BRILLIANT - oh so simple contacts dialing ๐
There were a few features I was looking for that were a must, as this was for my elderly mother-in-law. But top line summary is this 'senior' phone ticked all the boxes I needed to have. โ ๏ธ contact dialing is SO simple... press the 'contacts' button (top right button), then use the center button to move up/down the contacts list, once the contact is highlighted just press the green button... if there is just one number then contact number is dialled as soon as the green button is pressed, if there is mobile and home numbers entered under the contact then you just use up/down button to highlight the number and then press the green button. To save my mother-in-law having to choose and save on key presses, we set up all her contacts with individual contact entries for home and mobile. This is the simplest menu structure I have come across and even my mother-in-law can use it... โ ๏ธ Press contacts button > highlight contact (up/down key) > press green button to dial ... it doesn't get any more simple than that. โ ๏ธ you can โญ๏ธ 10 contacts so they appear at the top of the contacts list. โ ๏ธ has ICE as the 1st contact... essential to store medical information and emergency contacts for blue light emergency services... it's the first place they will look. โ ๏ธ loudness of in-call volume... awesome, for the first time ever my mother-in-law actually said, 'that's loud' ... never thought I would ever hear her say that ๐คฃ โ ๏ธ ring volume... we set to ringtone 7 (there are only 7 as default), which is a normal phone ringing ringtone and the ringing volume was great, easy for my mother-in-law to hear...and let's just say her hearing isn't that good, but she can hear this. You could add more ringtones, but will need to be done/transferred with the phone connected to a PC. โ ๏ธ nice big buttons with large figures. โ ๏ธ has a 5 contact assistant button... but we have not used this feature as my mother-in-law has an assistance necklace button alarm linked to the assistance/emergency system. โ ๏ธ the overall menu system is pretty good and easy to use... didn't have to read the manual once. โ ๏ธ it's 4G... this was an absolute must, 2G is now so old that it won't be long before the 2G frequency is shut down and used for some other technology. โ ๏ธ has a good old fashion 3.5mm audio socket. โ ๏ธ love the phone being white... makes it stand out and easy for my mother-in-law to see/find โ ๏ธ the charging cradle works really, just plug the charging cable into the cradle and the just slot the phone in. โ ๏ธ comes with a charger, but can be charged directly by connecting any micro-USB cable. โ ๏ธ if I were to want/need a basic phone to make/receive calls and text messages, then I personally would now get one of these 5860s... I was that impressed with it. Overall, at ยฃ68.48 (August 2023), I would say that is a great price, well made and extremely easy to use. A definite and easy 5 โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ all day long and would definitely recommend.

Decent 4G Dumbphone
The Doro 5860 is very easy to set up and use. It has decent build quality and seems reliable. Its intended customers (mostly seniors) are likely to be very satisfied with this phone without frills. You can turn off the Talking Keys function if you don't want it. The camera is barely adequate.

Wonderful, Simple Phone
I absolutely love this phone. Simple, basic, and doesn't interfere with your daily life by bleeping at you the whole time and distracting you. This is my daily use phone now after years of iPhones. Complete digital detox and I couldn't be happier. Nice big buttons, large font onscreen, simple OS. Battery life is great. And it's cheap to replace if I drop it! The only thing I miss is not having WhatsApp but it's a small price to pay for a quiet life once more. Thank you Doro.

Doro 5860
Being used to Nokia button phones, the Doro is much bigger and once found, the resetting of the display is much easier and similar to Nokia, the brightness is a little harsh for my tastes even when down at the lowest point and the keypad self lock is o.k but will not change to allow the use of a personal password code nor will it allow you to switch it off or let you put lock on when it is best for you. Also not a lot of choice for ringtones or message tones and no obvious way to do back up even though it does it, it does need a phone expert to sort it out However overall it is a good phone, getting easier to use and handle, so would recommend buying for anyone who prefers a phone with buttons and/or does not like/get one with Iphones (even the younger generation are getting fed up with Iphones and I have heard that many are buying buttons phones such as Doro.

Useless please don't buy it
The phone is very basic but that is why I ordered it for my 83 year old Mum. Please do not buy this phone, the battery lasts just a few hours, my Mum has been completely stressed by this phone, I live 200 miles away I can't just drop everything and rush down to sort a phone that is useless...... thankfully Mum kept her old phone, otherwise I wouldn't know if she was alive or dead......it's that serious, do not rely on this phone, the battery dies in mere hours leaving vulnerable people without their lifeline!!!!! Negatives: 1. The micro SIM is difficult/fiddly to get into the awkward slot. 2. This is supposedly a 2022 model but the software is out of date and it cannot be updated (instructions from seller). The DOB for the ICE section will not go below 1980, this primarily a phone for the elderly, not someone 42 or younger!! I contacted the seller regarding the above issue, they advised I updated the software in the settings. I followed their instructions, had a great 4G EE signal and data on SIM but the phone would not connect for any update.....so now the ICE DOB for Mum is inaccurate.....might not be a deal breaker, but who knows it's significance in an emergency???? 3. Unless the person intending to use this phone is tech savvy it would be difficult to set up without a great deal of help. 4. The docking station that comes with the phone is unreliable, the phone does not settle on it readily and if not settled correctly it does not charge....the phone can be charged directly via a cable, the cable can also be plugged into the docking station...the docking station should make life easier, it would if it worked properly..... 5. The battery seems to drain quite rapidly. I will monitor this further.... Update: The battery drains extremely fast, I was introducing Mum to the phone and adding some contacts, a couple of phone calls later and within 5 hours the battery was almost drained ........this would be a huge issue on a full day out......how could the phone be charged on the go??? There is no USB charging cable. 6. Writing a text message is an absolute nightmare, you have to make sure you select Abc via the # button, then # again if you want capitals then # again to return to Abc and make sure you select ok to keep your selection, oh and even if you do all of this it changes the options itself.....predictive text is horrendous, none of the words make sense, you just have to keep deleting......I turned predictive text off it's worse than useless. I thought this phone, supposedly designed for the older user would help me show Mum how easy texting was.......there is nothing easy about it, pressing the numbers multiple times until you get the letter you want, texting takes forever, it's ineffective and in the end Mum said it was far too complicated, she became very frustrated...... Mum had an older Doro phone and was swapping to this newer model, I tried texting on her old phone, it was as horrendous as this model, I now understand why my Mum could only ever reply to a text with OK, the fact she could even achieve this on a Doro phone was amazing.......I'm not sure she will even manage an OK with this model..... 7. Making a call is difficult, you'd think just select the contact from the list and press the green button.....no....you have to select the contact, press ok, select the number then press the green button.......too many steps for most people let alone an older person..... I can see this phone having to be returned, it's too complicated, clunky and difficult to use. I will see how Mum gets on with it over the next week.......but if she can't make calls it's a useless lump of expensive plastic!! Positives 1. The phone is lightweight and the buttons are nicely separated so should be easier to press, but I don't have arthritis. update: Mum found the handset heavy 2. It accepts contract and pay as you go SIMS - some phones are restricted to one type of SIM 3. It is a 4G phone, most phones designed for the elderly are 2G, this is being phased out so these phones will become useless. In Mum's case this would be Jan 2023. This is the main reason I chose this model of phone. 4. The screen is nice and large so the ability to easily read text message content is good. 5. You can set up the phone in a Matrix style (see photo) I'm hoping seeing the icons will make using the phone easier. The slight niggle is, I am unable to arrange the icons in the order that would make using the phone easier for mum. The phone does give the option of excluding icons (settings) those you know would not be helpful and might cause confusion to the user, but it would be helpful if the order of the icons could be rearranged. 6. You can set contacts up with a speed dial number, number 1 is pre set to voicemail, I have allocated some of Mum's key contacts to other numbers so she only has to press and hold 2 for instance and it will ring me.....thus might become essential. The true impact and effectiveness of this phone will be how and if Mum is able to use it in the way she needs to use it. My opinion is the phone is vastly over priced for the build quality, the quality of the docking station and the quality of the software. I bought this phone because it was a 4G phone it is designed for someone who just requires a simple phone without internet functionality and the 2G network is being phased out so Mum's phone would eventually stop working in 2023 with her current pay as you go provider. The phone has a few niggles especially as it is a 2022 model I would expect the software to be up to date and I would expect some more thought to have gone into the ICE section. If Mum can use the phone easily then it will prove to be a good buy.....the fact that it is a 4G phone is really the only reason I bought it....I'm hoping when Mum uses it I will have more positives to share.

Doro 5860 4G/3G/2G Unlocked Mobile Phone in White with charging cradle
Firstly, using the tagline "for seniors" is a tad disrespectful I feel! Bought this to replace another older Doro phone which was only 2G, this is a vast improvement and worked straight out of the box without issue. Reliable and clear signal on this. Note that if you use it on 4G or even 3G you MUST have the data enabled and have data on the SIM card you use because the 3G and 4G networks require SIM data in order to work effectively. Just the type of RF technology not the phone. A fantastic phone that I cannot recommend highly enough! You can select 2G if required and this phone is future-proof if just left on 4G as it can select which network is the most efficient for the call in use. It comes WITH a stand charging cradle in the box too! It has many useful features, one that will be useful for a lot of people who have poor vision is it can speak the numbers as you press them on the keypad "1...." "7...." etc etc. Display can be configured for high contrast (yellow on black) also and is of a reasonable visibility although it is a shame the font cannot be even larger than can be adjusted for. The phone is very pleasant to hold and the rear is of a non-slip type. Amazing value-for-money for the price! I will add here that DORO customer service are incredible, I know because I had to contact them some years ago about a different phone before we bought this one.

Simple...with some difficutlies...
I transferred my SIM card from another Doro, half the contacts were missing. The speaker volume controls are not clearly identifed on the side of the unit. ( Not on the keys ). I needed to be able to hear the caller from a short distance. the sound is not that powerful even on maximum. I have only one hand free. and usually place the unit on a table. I dont need a camera, torch or radio. Used mostly for text messages.- send & receive. In all - slighty disappointed ( I am 88 ) Use emails for most contatcs.

Good basic phone but there are limitations
PROS. 1. Good loud and clear call quality -the best so far in my opinion 2. Easy to read screen even in daylight 3. Signal reception very good 4. keyboard buttons are great easy to use and see CONS 1.its a 2MP camera so don't expect good photos, in fact they are very washed out and poor - my 10 year old Nokia was way better 2. Will only allow a small number of entries in the calendar (limited by the phone storage 18 MB - and SD card will not help) - so I've had to resort to a paper diary! 3. Would be nice if you could have a default sound for calendar notifications but you have to select the sound each time 4. Connects to Car radio via bluetooth ok but I have to manually connect each time I get in the car - again my old Nokia was way better - maybe compatibility with bluetooth 5 and the car?? 5. No postal address or notes can be added to contacts
