Q: can this be left on when the hardtop is put back on?

I have a soft top and it definitely has to be removed to put it back on. There is a hard plastic sleeve that fits into the lip that surrounds the bed of the Jeep that holds the tonneau top in place. Even if what ever attaches your top to the Jeep doesn’t interfere, I imagine the that your hard top would sit on top of the tonneau and damage it over time.

Q: Can this be used with the bestop soft top on?

No as this uses the same body clip in as the top would use.

Q: Do you need a talgate bar for this

Yes the tailgate bar is used on this piece as well.

Q: Will this fit 2018 Jeep Wrangler sport jl

It fits my 2017 sport unlimited. I do not have a tail bar and it works just fine.
