These skates were designed to go up to 30mph. The rubber friction brake is not ideal for speeds exceeding 8-10mph. Using these brakes presents two problems: 1- You have to completely straighten your leg (reduces bloodflow/fainting risk) AND put yourself off balance to use it. 2- Once you start braking, it's VERY difficult to transition back to a position of maneuverability. This is in no way akin to depressing a car's brake pedal. With a little practice, you'll find that the wheels are much better for stopping you. Bubble-wrapping yourself and belly flopping the pavement is likely a safer alternative to using a pencil eraser.

If I wear a 10.5 shoe will the 10's work for me?

No, always size up or they wont fit. I got the 9 and I wear a 8.5, they still feel a little tight until they break in.

Can a break be added?

Yes a brake can be added. Just bought one on powerslide.com specificly made for 3 x 125mm skates.
