Replacement Exhaust System Kit 106-0003: Compatible with 1996-2001 Jeep Cherokee 2.5L/4.0L

I wasn’t specifically looking for mandrel-bent pipes, but do prefer them. What I was really looking for was the quietest muffler I could find to replace my stock muffler which had a couple of small holes in it. This exhaust is a bit louder than stock (even considering the holes in the stock one), but from my understanding is not as loud as the other common options. I bought this kit along with the intermediate pipe (now discontinued) and they both needed to be modified to fit, costing $600 for installation alone. The tailpipe was too long and bent toward the leaf spring too much, the hanger on the tailpipe was the wrong type, and the muffler was shorter than stock. The kit came with clamps, but no nuts or gasket for the flange. Luckily, I was able to reuse my old gasket. The exhaust installer said that of all the “direct-fit” kits he has installed over the years, only two have fit without modification which is something you don’t expect as a consumer and is purposely misleading for profit. I’m disappointed in Magnaflow for that (they make BRExhaust). The quality overall seems pretty good, but once I was underneath and saw things weren’t lining up I’m glad I took it to a shop and didn’t pull it apart myself. On a side note, I love that the tailpipe is a separate section because by using a band clamp I am able to remove it and have room to install and remove the gas tank and skid plate, plus have extra room to mess with the hitch bolts.

Fit my 99 xj but couldn’t install the last piece without it sticking out a foot so I just left it off

Does not line up on my 1996 Cherokee with 4.0. Hangers are completely wrong and the path is off as well.
