I read the gate is unstable for wider openings. The description indicates it expands to fit up to 66-in openings. Is maybe a translation error?

It’s an excellent quality gate overall but I wouldn’t recommend it for anything larger than 41 inches wide. The extension pieces are kinda wonky and the more of them you have to add the more unstable the whole thing becomes. That said, for anything over 41 inches, just order a different model gate. For 41” or less I’d strongly recommend this one.

will this work as a replacement for a safety first gate?

Probably not. It's an exact replacement for a specific part of a Babelio gate. I took a look at the safety 1st gate and it looks like a different design.

Can you buy extra extension to add to the gate for up to 60 inch wide space?

Do not know. You might build up the space or wll to make it work
