It's mostly fine, but in many ways it's a step down from the discontinued old Sansa Clip model
I'll be positive about it, because it's a good enough choice among all the available MP3 player choices out there, but It's a step down from my old Sansa Clip SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player - Black in so many ways. My old one finally died after years and years of usage, so I was forced to find a replacement, but unfortunately they no longer manufacture the old model. I got this one because it's as close to my old one as I could find.Improvements over my old one:- 8GB of storage, instead of just 4GB on my old one- This one is conveniently compatible with any standard USB cables, whereas my old one required its own unique charging cableWays in which this one is unsatisfying compared to the old model:- The power button is located on the front instead of an on/off slider on the side. I don't like the button being on the front, because it's easy to press accidentally; for example, it's gotten pressed on while it's in my pocket.- Navigating through my folders/albums is more cumbersome on this model. I don't like how the back button takes us back to the main menu, instead of simply back to the previous folder, like a proper back button.- It has trouble with special characters in song titles & file names. It's not that it simply fails to display properly, it actually fails to recognize files at all whenever they contain certain special characters. This is a big step backwards, considering that my old model had no trouble recognizing and displaying everything, even Chinese characters in filenames and titles.- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how this thing sorts its music files. I always take the time to properly arrange my music files in alphanumeric order, in terms of both their filenames and their titles, but when I transfer them to this MP3 player and then go into any album, the music is all weirdly sorted out-of-order. As far as I can tell, I don't think they're sorted by date either. The only workaround I've managed to figure out is to avoid browsing by album altogether, and instead make separate playlists for each album I want to listen to. This device does manage to, at least, recognize playlists, so I can transfer my playlists to the MP3 player along with my MP3s. That works, but then that leads to another nitpick, which is that when I'm playing files in a playlist, it ends up displaying filenames onscreen, not the song titles.- No audio recording feature. I didn't use this feature extensively on my old model, but at least it was possible and whenever I used it, it worked quite well, so it's unfortunate that they didn't include such a feature on this model.Anyway, aside from those issues & nitpicks, I use it for listening to MP3s, as well as the radio, and it works fine. I haven't tried the audiobook feature, so I can't comment on it.

Definitely a GREAT purchase! The price is right too
I "Love" this little thing! (I've named it Sandy, because it's a SanDisk player and full of goodness. My Son says I'm a "Dork". Haha!) It has music track memory and just drag-n-drop file entry. I can even manipulate the menu with my "M.S. fingers". Definitely a GREAT purchase! The price is right too! I'm much happier with this opposed to the "Apple - I-Pod". (I must now sell for a fraction of what I paid just 4 months ago...) Save your self the time, aggravation and money and just pick one of these up instead!!!

so far a great mp3 player
I was looking for a dedicated mp3 player for use in my car, which is not Bluetooth enabled. (I would rather not use my phone, which is, of course, an option.) It was easy to use and to navigate even without the manual, which I later downloaded. I like the capability for adding an SD card, since I already have one loaded with files. We'll see how it works in the long run, but for the money, it seems like a great value.

Didn't come with the SD card
Loved the mp3 player and worked very well. I thought it came with the card for storage but it didn't. Still was a good product.

I Like It
Got this to replace a very old similar gadget on which the battery was dying. Had it for a month and it's doing the job. Haven't had to recharge it yet and it's still at 3/4, so I love the battery life. Much cleaner sound than my old one.Kind of wish it was a little bigger. I use it to play music in my 98 truck which doesn't have modern style inputs to the stereo system, and for that small size isn't an advantage. My old one was twice the size and easier on my old eyes. Guess for walking around playing through headphones you want it small. One thing to watch out for, though not a big deal. A lot of my music was originally copied from old LP's so the names I put on the tracks didn't work on this. It doesn't like some special characters or excessively long names, and ignores the tracks. I had to upload the music to the computer and rename a lot of tracks. Just be prepared if you have music files you named yourself. It's good. Probably going to buy another for my car.

Extremely bad choice for Audible
This has a decent sounding FM radio. It seems to work fine for music and podcasts but for Audible it’s a nightmare. After many missteps and two days’ effort I was eventually able to load an audio book . Hint: you need enhanced format or you’ll get sound only in your left ear.Finding your place in a book takes FOREVER. Moving backwards or forwards is agonizingly slow. You can pause playback easily enough, but when you check you location and restart, play does not resume immediately and there is no indication on the display that the restart button has been pressed. If you were able to press the minuscule button and press it just once, playback will resume in fifteen to fifty seconds.( Each time you stop the player, it takes longer to resume.) When you press the button and hear or see nothing happen the natural tendency is to press the button again. What you get then is a long wait, a second or two of narration and another long wait. After this happens a few times you want to scream.Another problem is that there’s no lock function. Bump it in just the right way and it stops playing or jumps to the wrong book and you’re in finding-your-place purgatory again. This thing is just hellish to use.An additional problem is that Amazon now cancels the accounts of customers who return too much stuff. I’m stuck with this piece of crap and afraid to return it.

Light and handy to clip on, lousy menu and features.
The menu on the old clip player was MUCH better, ok for music but lousy for mp3 audiobooks even when shuffle is turned off in the main settings it still shows when viewing file list by author or title, WTF? who wants to listen to an audiobook with the tracks out of order.
