POWERTEC 70135V 4" Blast Gate for Dust Collector, Dust Collection Fittings

This blast gate has proven to be a game changer in my shop. The quality of the construction has made for easy operation, and as of now seals very well when closed.

I ordered this blast gate knowing it was listed as aluminum, but honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be this heavy-duty. Usually, when you order metal fittings online, you expect something lightweight or thin. ​When I opened the box, I was genuinely shocked by the weight of it. This isn't just a standard metal piece; it is solid, thick, and feels industrial. Most importantly, the seal is incredibly tight. In my shop, I'm not just worried about sawdust; I need to know that fumes and carbon aren't leaking back through the system. This gate closes off completely, giving me peace of mind that nothing is passing through when it shouldn't. It operates smoothly, seals perfectly, and is a massive upgrade in quality compared to what I thought I was getting..

I bought this for using on a new dust collection system I set up for woodworking. The gate works well and the slide stays where you put it.

While I’m pretty happy with my purchase, the design does leave them a bit leaky. They seem to be high quality and are easy to install. Blast gates that don’t leak are probably much more difficult to design and undoubtedly would be MUCH more expensive. I just taped up the self-cleaning opening to eliminate some of the leakage now. If the gate gets clogged, I’ll just remove the tape, clean it out, and reapply. You patience may vary…

These are a great addition to my dust collection set up. Unlike the 4-inch blast gates, they are sealed all the way whether in the open or close position.

Worth what paid for

A decent blast gate for the money. A couple of complaints: It's a little loose, enough so that you couldn't mount it vertically; otherwise, the gate would slide shut as soon as you opened it and let go. With it mounted sideways, it still works its way slightly open. It needs a detent on close and open. When closed, you can still hear vacuum leaks. I would recommend the tighter-fitting plastic units over this one.

Functionally better than plastic ones - don’t get blocked. Not a good fit for standard 63 mm connectors

The back part of these gates are not closed (maybe to prevent dust buildup like what happens in the cheap plastic blast gates?) ... but that means when the gate is in the open position that it's also not sealed which hurts the suction. Not ideal at all, might as well have just continued using the plastic ones that I cut the bottom off of to prevent them jamming up with dust, because these do the same thing. Most metal blast gates have a much longer gate, so if this is what you're looking for these are NOT the ones you want.
