This is something different than the regular off-the-shelf shaving cream. First, it doesn't need all that messy foam to shave well. And it can be used for both my daughter and husband. Unisex. My husband loves the smell as it is really subtle, and that is coming from someone who doesn't care for fragrance. He likes that cleanly shaven feeling lasts a lot longer than the other creams he'd used before. And it keeps his skin soft. My daughter uses it on her legs and so she just loves it doesn't make a big mess to clean up, and likes the light scent. I hope this company continues to make this awesome product and I am buying two more! Highly recommended.

Very good shaving soap make skin feel soft and clean shave last for 6months

I am a repeat customer. I first bought OPR's amazing Bay Rum shave soap and since I also love the smell of Sandalwood, I decided to give this one a try. I thought the Sandalwood scent was a little too subtle, but if subtle is what you're after, you'll love this stuff. But here's the thing. I contacted the manufacturer/vendor, Jason Tonning. I actually called him on the phone, both to compliment his Bay Rum soap, but also to ask whether I might exchange the Sandalwood because I preferred the Bay Rum. We had a really good conversation and I found him to be very accommodating and he provided excellent customer service. When he sent the replacement bottle of Bay Rum, he included a very nice note, referencing our conversation and told me to keep the Sandalwood with his compliments, and that it makes for an excellent hand soap or shower soap as well, due to it being a very effective anti-bacterial cleanser due to its high pH. Dealing with this vendor has probably been one of my most satisfying experiences as a consumer on Amazon. Jason clearly takes pride in his product and I feel like I'm dealing with an "old world craftsman" who is making his secret stash of goodness available to those "in the know". Now YOU know. If you like a clean, milder scent, go for the Sandalwood. If you want your face to smell great all day and remind you of bring in your uncle's barbershop when you were a kid, go for the Bay Rum Shaving Soap. As for me, I'm about ready to pull the trigger on my next purchase from OPR. The Bay Rum aftershave. Cheers.

First and foremost, this shave soap will give you a closer shave than any of the shave products you will find off the shelf at the local stores. It is a different type of product, in that it doesn't produce a heavy cream or lather, but rather a light soapy lather. If you can get past the expectation of what a traditional shave cream or shave soap is like, you will love the closeness of the shave, and how well it reduces the irritation from shaving. And it smells good too.

I bought this Sandlewood Shave Soap not knowing if I would like it or not. And as indicated in the title, kinda both! Satisfied: As others have mentioned, this has more a feeling of soap, but it has a very good set of oils that make shaving extremely smooth. It also leaves a light bit of oil on the skin which isn't bad, and a slight swipe with the towel and it will be gone if you want. I have used quite a few different products, from shaving oils to cremes and this is easier to use and gives a great shave than most. I shave in the shower, so the simple pump top means no fumbling and precise enough control. Overall, quite satisfied. But ... Dissatisfied: I bought this because I like Sandlewood, yet I couldn't smell or detect a whiff of it. I thought maybe it was just the initial stuff in the pump tube, but I unscrewed the top and, nope, not a whiff. So, I read the label which is pictured here as well. Notice anything? Really nice set of oils, which is why I think it shaves so well. But one oil you might expect in a Sandlewood product is missing. Perhaps that was attempted in that last ingredient, 'fragrance'? I also bought the Sandlewood After Shave Oil from OPR and you'll never guess what oil is missing! And, like the Soap, there isn't a hint of Sandlewood smell. So, the After Shave Oil is going back and I am still considering whether to return the Shave Soap, too. On the one hand, I find it did a great job for me as far as shaving. But on the other, why call it Sandlewood if it isn't? I could have bought the Unscented and perhaps not had the artificial 'fragrance' ingredient that I really don't want or need. I'm tempted to buy some Sandlewood essential oil and put some in the bottle to see what happens, but probably I will have a much better smell and screw up the shave!

This is good stuff for an underlay for the shaving cream. Reduces friction.

I'm 73 and have been shaving for 60 years. My dad taught me to soften with hot water, shave and rinse. I've tried a variety of ways over the years and now that I'm retired I actually skip a few days shaving at times. I read somewhere about shaving oils, did some research and chose this great product. Price was great and reviews consistently favorable. I got the oil, hot watered my face put a small amount in my hand, oiled up my face and got a great shave. So easy and so nice. Smells wonderful and my old skin is smooth. My only problem was a faulty pump. I sent a question thru Amazon and the company responded immediately that they were sending a replacement pump. What more could I ask for? Great product and a company that cares.
