Q: Is this made of glass?

It's not glass it's plastic. It didn't hold 8 cups either. I sent mine back.

Q: How noisy is this item? i own a similar b&d food processor (fp1600b) and it's as loud as a lawnmower!

I’ve used it to make pasta dough and pesto. I don’t find it annoyingly loud, but like any food processor, it makes noise. I don’t think it’s lawn mower loud.
