Very nice reel for the money
Just got the reel and after careful inspection I am very satisfied with this reel. I've been a life long Penn owner and since I fished saltwater I have had a Penn SS650, a SS750 and a SS850 for over 35 years... great reels and parts are still available. Now I'm retired so I bought this Daiwa to fish for bass and other freshwater species in FL and GA, and I wanted to change to Daiwa because I like the look, the reputation and the positive reviews. Since I believe fisherman catch fish not reels, I refuse to pay more than $100 for a freshwater reel. I've tried the expensive reels and this BG line has quality, looks, is a great value and is smooth as silk. Who knows I may buy a larger BG for saltwater when I can't get parts for my old Penn SS's. I bought a KastKing Perigee 7'1" M for this reel and I will need to fight and catch some fish to see if I like the rod.

Excellent reel!
This reel is the bomb... solid, smooth, strong... only gave 4 stars for durability as I haven't had it for long, so time will tell... but, if anything like my old Diawa, I'll have it for another 20 years...

Quality
I thought this reel was good quality and I was surprised that some folks said it was heavy.I didn’t think so.I caught a 42 inch musky on 4 pound mono line while I was fishing for perch. It took me 20 minutes to land it and the drag worked great.

BUY IT
This is hands down the best reel for the price range. I do wish it had more than 4lbs of drag but with that said it’s handled hybrids, small mouth and large mouth with no problem. It’s very powerful. I have 20lb braid on it as well. I have bought other BG sizes now to replace my Shimanos. The body is super rigid and when you turn the handle you can feel quality. You definitely will not be disappointed.

Great value and amazing performance.
This reel is the best bang for your buck. Been using it for fresh and salt water for couple years now. I slack on my cleaning, ive dropped it in the sand, got salt water in it and it lives still. I did take it apart and give it a good cleaning not too long ago. My dumb butt didnt record taking it apart so I have a random bearing that should be in. No clue where, but thing hasnt skipped a beat.

New Daiwa fan, the other guys better step up.
I am shocked, up till now you had to pay dearly for the high end stuff. This reel has the same bearings as the ultra premium reels , and feels ultra smooth( without the stiff startup). Now in a year it may fall apart, who knows, but I will find out. So far no complaints. The reel handles braid well, and fishes great.I love it so far, so much that I need to get the 2500 size for a river bass rig.

Bought a Stradic Ci4+ at the same time as this reel and set the two up pretty much the same 10lb braid and a 12 foot leader of 6lb floro. The BG is on a Sellus 6ft medium strength fast action rod and it balances perfect. The 4lbs of drag for the 2000 is quite light; however, more than adequate for 4-8lb rainbows with a little bit of hand braking. This reel out performs the stradic day in and day out. It is the smoother of the two reels by far at less than half the price. Sturdy build, feels quality, and a superb bail (you know when you flip the bail and you think it's fully open but when you cast it closes snapping your line and sending $10 flying cough stradic cough) Summary: Pros: - smooth - casts very well - braid ready - solid bail - serviceable - saltwater ready - sturdy - PRICE Cons - weight - drag on the 2000 is just 4lbs 10/10 would buy again

Super smooth and really light. Very fluid. Compared to my other reels this is certainly the best. I bought a bigger one for my other rod I liked using it so much. You can’t go wrong!
