Would this hold a 98 inch table top?

I put a 28” x 80” hollow core door on mine. I used a hollow core door to keep the weight down and that complicated fastening as I had to use mollies. The two cross bars are the last support for the end sections that essentially cantilever out—the top needs to maintain it’s own rigidity as well as the weight of whatever you put on it…

Is the position of the control screen fixed?

I mounted it on the edge of the desk for easy access. It has a wire cable of about 4 ft long giving you flexibility in the installation .

what’s the max tabletop depth that will fit this frame?

In my case it's over 32 inches deep, and it is still very stable.
