These have serve well, over the years we have been using. The exercises are good and with answers. We have recommended to other homeschooling families as well. These qould work well as supplemental item as well to boost better understanding.

I have been using this book for my homeschooler and I find it a solid curriculum covering a wide range of subjects. Every lesson includes a one page essay on a science concept and five-ish questions based on the reading, with reviews/assessments every seven lessons. There are seven of the seven lesson units. We get through two pages per session. It’s challenging but not overly frustrating. The book has a wide range of subjects, and in addition to my student learning about these, I feel this book is helpful for reading comprehension and information synthesis. I’ve been very happy with it.

Challenge but not too hard. You read a short passage and answer questions. This book also has quizzes which help.

Basic information on most of your Science Material. I wanted something with Review Questions this year for my homeschool lessons. However the information is borderline "DRY" for 3rd grade. The Questions are what you would find in public school traditional science. Which is good for anyone wanting to follow a public school standards, or needs an open and go program for their schedule. In hind sight that is what I was looking for to make sure we were on track and we covered all the basics. But it is a bit of culture shock from more colorful books I had been using before. This would not fit for a monitossory style of school, very little hands on or colorful illustrations. In fact I have used other resources to show better illustrations when covering the information on cells, and atom structure. Good for open and Go. Not recommend for someone who needs more illustrations or hands on science experiments.

Works for our homeschooling

I always enjoy the Spectrum series. As a homeschool parent, I am often looking for helpful workbooks to use for days I just don't have the energy to do it all. These provide additional challenges for my children (ages 2-13 yrs). We enjoy different learning methods, but busy work can get boring. These books provide interesting questions and challenges that we don't find with other labels. We don't follow a curriculum, so these give me some helpful insight into what each child has really grasped (and what we need to work a little more on).
