Lovely hardback book. I didn't realise this book's content was made up of the interviews on the Picturebook Makers website, so I was a bit disappointed as I had already read them all before buying it. But they are great reads and even having read them already the book was worth me keeping anyway purely for the beautiful full spread illustrations.

Wonderful quality book.

Honestly, I only bought this book for Jon Klassen after buying one of his books for my son recently. But it was great to be introduced to other authors/artists. It's a nice easy read, with great art. 👍

Really enjoyed this book and discovered some illustrators. For me I would love to have seen Oliver Jeffers and E. B Lewis included but guess you can't have everyone, perhaps room for another volume?

If you have ever wanted to know what makes a children's book illustrator tick and how they go about doing what they do, this is that book!

Lovely book, which arrived on time

I loved this book. No - I LOVED THIS BOOK! As someone who collects childrens books and loves illustrations I found the illustrators within this book were incredibly generous in sharing their working processes. I took notes, I looked things up and I was reassured that there is no RIGHT way to be an illustrator. Everyone within the pages had their own thoughts and processes. I saw behind the scenes of a few of my favourite illustrators and have also noted down some books of new to me illustrators to add to my wishlist. Lots of glorious double page full colour illustrations, lots of sketchbook rough images to see where the gem of an idea is forming. The illustrators talk through specific books and how they came about from start to finish. Loved it. Loved it. This book is a little gem. My only gripe is that I wanted more. It's a big book and I was left dissapointed when it finished. My only hope is that the number one on the spine means there will be a number two soon.

Ok but not really interesting. It was bought as a gift but arrived damaged so it's been returned.

I love this book. So many wonderful illustrators and their stories. Highly recommend to anyone interested in picture books and the people who create them.
