Became my favorite setup
This was my first 4 piece rod, I paired it with a daiwa ultralight 750 reel. I love it, I usually use it with my spinners, either mepps, roosters, or joes flies, this thing flips them a long way and the action is just right. I ordered a second after how much I like the first. I put 4lb braid on it and use a 6lb flouro leader and it's perfect. I've caught a bunch of walleye and catfish on it along with a few smallmouth. Surprisingly it pulled in a couple 24"+ catfish. I got it for trout but this is a great all around rod if you like finesse fishing. You can't drag fish in with this, take your time, fight it.

Just Buy It
I picked up this Daiwa Spinmatic-SMD ultralight rod for travel, and it’s become one of my favorite rods, hands down. The 4-piece design makes it super easy to pack—I’ve thrown it in a suitcase and taken it all over with no issues.Performance-wise, it’s sensitive and has great action. Perfect for small spinners and finesse fishing. I’ve caught everything from panfish to 20+ inch catfish on it, and it held up way better than I expected for an ultralight rod. It’s lightweight, feels great in the hand, and honestly punches way above its price. I’d absolutely buy it again. If you’re looking for a compact, reliable ultralight rod, this is it.

Great value.
Great feeling ultralight rod for the price. Love the longer length. Would buy again.

Comparable to 1-piece pole
Surprisingly good, almost as good of action as single piece rods. I carry this in the car now instead of my Lew's or Fenwick

Daiwa quality just isn't there.
Bought for plane travel, during first use I found the handle was loose from the rest of the pole.sadly I used it after return window closed and haven't touched the pole since that first use where I found a defect

Works great on trout
I’ve been using this for about a year now and have caught many trouts with it. Works well with rooster tails

Convenient Travel/Pack Rod
Quality rod, at great price point. Loved that it broke down into 3-4 pieces, and came with a nylon traveling case. Length helped to whip lures (trout) out farther into lake.

Great Rod
Excellent quality, good fast action. Does what it's description says. Could only be better with a hard case to prevent guide damage in my luggage.
