Q: How do i install the blade. i bought the protouch retractable and my hubby threw away the packaging.

Slide the silver button to the unlock position. Press on yellow button and while pressing yellow button and holding please remove the razor by pulling on it.

Q: is there a way to make the blade stay locked out or does the slide have to be held all the time?

No, you cannot push out and lock the blade. It retracts each time.

Q: Is the handle aluminum or plastic?

Not plastic. Some type of metal. Maybe steel. It feels durable.

Q: Does it hold the blade tight?

Mine DID NOT, I wasted my money on this cutter. I don't even use it because I cannot get the blade to lock in place. Not safe to use, I cannot recommend this cutter.
