Nice solid platform for moderate work on firearms like cleaning and repairs. The angle adjustments are easy and quick. Works on any rifle/shotgun/handgun. I purchased the extra jaw sleeves which are very nice.Very simple and straightforward to install. Mark your holes on your bench, drill, insert the carriage bolts and torque down the nuts. I used extra large washers on the bottom side to help insure the bolts don't break loose.A bit pricey for a Chinese product but it seems well engineered and constructed.Great value!

This is a really nice vice. I also purchased the Real Avid Smart-Jaws Multi-Fit Sleeves for added protection when I am working on a firearm. This unit comes complete with all you need to setup and install on your work bench.I have found that AVID makes excellent products, I have never been disappointed.This is NOT the vice for serious vice work (bending metal, heavy pounding, etc) , but it is the vice for working on firearms and other objects of importance. It will handle any necessary torque work one firearms with ease.It is fully positional and flexible, but for torque work you should likely lock it into the full up right mode.

I've seen many haters in various forums talk about this little dude. Personally, I love it. It mounted very easily to my workbench. I love the different jaws. I love the 360-degree ball rotation. I can use padded jaws to securely hold a rifle with the handguard on to clean the bore. With another set of Real Avid jaws, I can use this nearly like a barrel vise. I recently had a suppressor thread lock onto a brake due to thermal expansion and some baked thread grease. I had to remove the barrel from my rifle, secure it in the vise, and really work to get that suppressor off. Once I got the barrel in the jaw barrel-groove, it held firmly enough for me to get this job done (not rolling/twisting). I've also used this vise to remove barrel devices, work on my rifles. That ball joint is awesome to reposition your rifles while working on them.I really don't have anything negative to say about this vise. Wait. Maybe. There maybe is one thing: The spindle handle could maybe stand to be a little longer. When you're really cranking on it to secure a barrel so it won't roll, it does get a little tedious. But it's nothing that requires a workaround or anything. It'd just be nice if it were a little bit longer for more to grip while you torque.Other than that, for the cost, I really do like this vise.

I used to procrastinate certain weapon maintenance like barrel changes or muzzle device swaps because I didn't have a vise. Even after purchasing this Real Avid vise I procrastinated using it because I didn't have a work bench to bolt it to. One day I suddenly realized I could just use C-clamps! Now after 1 year I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The 3" C-clamps hold it way tighter than needed with no wiggle at all. If your wife is worried about the kitchen table getting scratched you can simply use a book or sheet of thick fabric between the vise and the table. I've now completely disassembled and reassembled several AR's and helped a buddy build his first AR.I also purchased the Real Avid brand magazine block and upper receiver block. I was pleasantly surprised to learn later that this vise has built in grooves that align with their own branded blocks. Both the upper block and magazine block lock into special indents in the vise adding additional rigidity. So I'm glad I got the Real Avid brand blocks.I tried 3 different C-clamp brands before finding some that are low enough profile to not block the horizontal locking pin. So if you buy C-clamps make sure to get the Bessey 3" or similar throat depth for your needs. I love being able to unclamp the vise from my table and put it away with my other tools when not in use. When I travel I put the vise in a backpack and do maintenance while at the gun range. I absolutely love this thing! It's a little pricey but you'll be glad you spent the money the very first time you use it. Well anyone who is looking at this should definitely know that it is perfect. It was my husbands Father’s Day gift. He picked your out. I know nothing about this stuff but I will regurgitate all he has said and he won’t stop talking about it, so that’s great. The ball is the think-and the locking pin makes this a full on game changer. He mounted a scope and it took half the time it used to take. He has rebuilt several “pew pews” and the time and effort it took was not even comparable to before he had the vise. Bottom line-if you have a “pew pew” enthusiast, that actually builds and works on their own “pew pews” this is what you want. Worth every penny.
