I rarely write reviews, but this product surprised me. I bought the first one had a local hardware store just because I wanted to buy something from them. I plugged it in just to see if it worked when we had a house fly inside. It didn't catch the house fly, but what it did catch was an eye opener - dozens of bugs we didn't even know we had. Most were very small flies, maybe fruit flies that we hadn't even seen. But there were also bugs that we didn't recognize that upon looking them up we found that they were smokey brown cockroach nymphs (which again, we had never seen in the house). We called pest control, but also ordered three more on Amazon.

I didn't know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a "drive-by-bite", and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn't seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new. I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn't want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn't see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more...and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered! Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It's fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I've closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I'm working on. For anyone who says "it didn't work" may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it's pretty dark in there, but there's no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn't. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn't draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath. I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it! P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space - and your ability to concentrate while working!!

I know how helpful pictures are for believability, so I’ll attach one! Don’t judge me, I had no idea what these were for the first couples of weeks. So yes they overran my house for a bit. But that is no longer! We are now free from the clutches of these nasty little 💩’s. I recently moved to Florida, and never in my life had I experienced so many (what I thought were gnats - I’m still unsure what the hell they actually are 😂). For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where the swarms of these pesky little things were coming from. I am originally from up north, where the only things that resemble them that we get are fruit flies. I couldn’t figure out why they were everywhere when none of my fruit was rotten or even remotely bad. Until I did some googling and found out these little demons are called Drain Flies. They live and breed in your drain, lay eggs and come out in SWARMS. I tried every remedy to kill them off. I cleaned my drains, I poured all kinds of chemicals down there. I googled every which way to kill their eggs, catch them. Tried the whole apple cider vinegar, water and soap trick. Where the apple cider vinegar is supposed to attract them, and the surface tension of the soap is supposed to get them stuck and they sink into the water below….noooope! Nothing worked. I’d still see them flying all over the place in my peripheral vision, and to top it off I now had a nasty little vinegar cup hidden in my corner smelling like dooky. I, like every other rational person, ran to Amazon for a solution. And I found LOTS of them. My first go to was going to be that light and fan thing, where the light attracts them and the fan supposedly sucks them in to their demise. I really didn’t care which one I purchased, as long as it worked. I saw the reviews and pictures of this one and figured I’d give it a go, and if this one didn’t work, I’d try the other one I mentioned. Day 1, the first few hours, it caught absolutely nothing. And I thought “greaaat. This thing isn’t going to catch anything and I’m gong to have to deal with this pests for another few days while I wait on another order” Day 2. I woke up, not expecting to find anything, and lo and behold, there were 10-15 flies on it. My prayers had been answered! Day 3. Not going to lie, I forgot I had it plugged in Day 4. I checked again, and this is what I found. The picture attached. Absolutely gross 🤢. Don’t ask, I have no idea how all these nasty little creatures lived in my sink without my knowledge. I must just be that blissfully unaware. I thought I only had a few…clearly I was wrong I’m on like Day 10 now. I waited awhile because I wanted to make sure it continued to work before posting this review. I haven’t seen another fly / gnat besides in the trap, since Day 4, nearly a week ago. Not one. However, the trap is still lit up, and still as sticky as it was on day 1. There is a faint blue glow, it’s a pretty pleasant. It’s just like a night light. It makes 0 noise whatsoever. It’s SO easy to remove and replace the sticky pad. You pull the stick piece up out of the part that attaches into the wall, and slide a new one in. So simple, yet so effective. If you’ve had these nasty little critters flying around your home for far too long now, try it. You won’t regret it. If it doesn’t work in the first spot you put it, move it around. These things supposedly come out of the drains, yet for some reason it catches far more in my bedroom outside the bathroom. So find what works for you. Also, it turns sideways if need be. So if you have a sideways plug, you can still plug it in and swivel it so it’s face up! I hope this review helps some of you choose this, and rid your life of these nasty little buggers!!

I've got a zevo trap similar to this one but wanted to add a few more around the house. We've had these little irritating bugs flying around lately. The zevo has never impressed us much even though it's in the kitchen. So I got 6 of these traps to try instead, both the trap and refills are A LOT cheaper. I put one in the kitchen, not far from the zevo and near a fruit bowl we keep stocked with fresh fruit. I figured if it caught a few bugs overnight, it's worth the money. It caught 14 bugs of various sizes overnight between about 8pm and 8am! Excellent results IMO. The other 5 traps around the house caught a few each too. Passive bug killin without breaking the bank - I'm sold.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I got a fungus gnat infestation with my houseplants. I bought one of these traps because I want to avoid using any chemicals. I kept it plugged in my room and I was amazed at how many bugs it caught! Every night there would be a few more on the sticky card. I did leave it plugged in continuously for several months and I finally removed it last month. Surprisingly the card was STILL sticky. It even caught a couple of mosquitoes and a spider so... definitely got my value. This trap did some with a spare sticky card so I will save that for the next time I have an infestation. My only complaint was that the blue light is fairly bright, and it can be disruptive if you're trying to sleep in the same room. Otherwise, I'm very happy with how well it worked!

This plug‑in insect trap is a great little device. It’s super easy to assemble — you just pop in the sticky pad and plug it in. It’s been effective at catching gnats, flies, and no‑see‑ums, which makes it really useful in a Southern climate. I haven’t seen it attract mosquitoes, though, even though we have tons of them here. It seems the light just doesn’t appeal to them the same way. The trap uses sticky pads and gives off a blue illumination, which actually looks pretty cool and adds a nice aesthetic touch. I’ve had several of these, and they typically last about six months before the light stops illuminating, and once the light goes out, it no longer attracts bugs.

We got this to help solve a pretty bad fruit fly infestation. I check every morning to see if it’s caught any more, and this fly catcher worked really well and caught a whole bunch of fruit flies for like two days, but it hasn’t helped much for the past few days. It does say to put it away from other light sources and our neighbors keep lights on all night outside the window this has to be plugged in by, so it might be user error, but unfortunately there’s not much we can do about it. A little disappointing, but at least there are *fewer* fruit flies buzzing around. Overall, I’d say this is better than nothing and it helps reduce the number of fruit flies, but it’s probably not going to be the miracle product that you hope it will.

bought this item for our kitchen fruit flies/ sewer flies. set it up immediately yesterday. Very easy to set up. Light acts like a nightlight. After running overnight/ day. A whole 24 hrs later. We are officially bug free. This product definitely works. Should have bought this item sooner.
