Bhagavad Gita: Essentials Paperback – December 19, 2021

It is written clearly and understandably. It contains truth that I didn't know before and gives a deeper understanding eg most people miss the compass to decipher what is good or bad.

Full of deep deep insights. I'm 82. I was given my first B. Gita in my 20s. This is the clearest and sweetest interpretation ever. I am truly grateful.

Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s commentary on the timeless classic is the best I have ever read; and I’ve tried reading many others’ versions of the Gita. I first started with Swami Prabhupada’s version, then moved to Swāmi Yogananda’s version, and while both good, the commentary and explanations of the verses were both harder for me to connect to. Swami Vishwananda’s commentary and explanations of these verses connected with me easily and brought my understanding and engagement with the Gita to a whole new level. I’ve read it multiple times now. Perhaps because he is a living master in our time, and is writing for people like us. The analogies and stories he uses to illustrate Krishna and Arjun’s words is amazing. If you are looking for the truth about life, this is the book for you. Even with just one verse, you can meditate on it and learn and change so much. Absolutely beautiful work.

I like the literal translation of the verses because they indicate the true spirituality behind the teachings. However the interpretation of the author often disintegrates into religion and practices that are not the essence of Geeta. In many parts he totally misses the key teachings and seems to repeat himself constantly after the first couple of chapters.
