Contemporary Weaving in Mixed Media

Beautiful inspiring book perfect for the weaver wanting to bring nature into their work. It's always great to get an insight into an artists process and Rachna shares her inspiration and techniques of using nature, recycled fabrics and found objects in her weavings. This book has totally inspired me to look beyond just using merely yarns for weaving!

Rachna has freely shared her design process- from the inspirations to final piece. Though it features woven work, it can provide inspiration to graphic designers, for patchwork sewing , quilting , mixed media art etc. The pictures have a great aesthetic appeal. There is variety of textures ,colours and weaving explorations in her work to sustain one’s interest throughout the book. It refreshing to see her comfort and ease in tackling her weaving while having fun , appreciating nature and celebrating life. Very uplifting read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Very inspirational work. Opened up a lot more ideas for me. I would have liked a little more information on the techniques the author used but nonetheless very pleased with the book. Beautiful cover as well! Wendy

What an absolute joy this book is. Rachna is a delight. Her voice is fresh- encouraging you to see the world through seasonal changes and important issues for wildlife and nature. Her ideas are inspirational. I've had my eye on this book for a while and now wish I'd bought it ages ago. All those things I've been collecting on walks and all that yarn I've been waiting for a use for will now find homes in woven items. Buy it!

This is a really interesting book with lots of different ways to incorporate found items into your small weavings. Lots of great ideas

As a weaver myself, I'm always interested in getting a glimpse into the studio and working approach of another weaver. This is a beautiful, well written book -----many color photographs of Rachna's sketchbooks/journals, weaving materials, as well as completed wall hangings. She grew up in India and later settled in London, and you can see how her weaving is inspired by the vegetation, seasons, and waterways of both countries. My favorites include a series of wall hangings based upon the river Thames, including some smaller weavings executed on paper ---in which she incorporates objects she has found on the banks of that river. Very pleased to add this to my collection of weaving books.

This book inspired me to get out in nature and capture the colors and textures in art. The texture of the cover is calming and invites you to open the book and start the journey of discovery.
