Easy to install but I wish there was better documentation
I had no trouble replacing an old Ademco 6128(?) keypad with this HoneyWell Ademco 6150. My alarm system doesn't use targeted addresses, so no programming was required. Just attach the wires and mount. The keypad defaults to non-targeted mode. Where I got into trouble was with the 4 programmable keys. It's really difficult, impossible, to find any documentation on how to program them. I ended up issuing a panic alert by mistake. I had to call the monitoring center to stop them from rolling a squad car. I realize that the programming function may be more on the alarm system than the keypad. Unfortunately, the documentation for the keypad and my alarm system are really lacking here. Apart from this, the keypad works. I'll just stick to the alphanumeric keypad.

Easy to install
Easy installation. The 4 wires were color coded to match the keypads terminals. (The same as the old one.) It came up blank when I first powered the system back on, and I then programmed it to the old keypads ID number. Simple instructions were on the box. It's working fine so far. All told, 25-30 minutes.

Easy to switch out as a replacement for the same item
It works as it should. I have to replace this exact Honeywell 6150 keypad because the buttons were sticking. After much online research, here's how I did it and it worked just fine. Hopefully It should work as well for you: 1. With the old one disarmed but plugged in, press the 1 & 3 keys simultaneously until a number appears on the display, the address code. It will be anywhere from 00 to 31. The number is important later 2. Use the notches on the bottom (insert a screwdriver to release the latches). 3. Remove the front panel (the wall bracket can stay, since the new front panel will match it perfectly) and then remove the four thin wires, noting which terminal they were screwed into, making sure they do not touch each other, and removing the black wire LAST. 4. Attach the wires to the same terminals on the new panel in the same places, again with the black lead LAST. It will chime and light up. 5. Press the 1 & 3 buttons simultaneously. If the number on the display matches the number on the panel you had removed, the unit will work. If it is not the same number, use the new keypad buttons to replace the number with the proper number from the old keypad. 6. You are free to press the * key next to exit this mode, and then use the master code for the system to test it. It should work and continue to do so.

Got 6150RF for the 6150. Steps to configure if already using 5881RN on your Vista
I was pleasantly surprised when I got a 6150RF for the 6150 I ordered. Though the 6150RF is backward compatible with the 6150, the installation was not straight forward as I was already using a 5881EN standalone receiver on the Vista panel. While the instructions that came are good, they are confusing wherever they say "on the Control" or "on the Panel" or "on the Control Panel" or "the system" as they are used to refer to both the keypad and the Vista. There are very few places in the instructions where they explicitly say "the Keypad" and avoid that confusion. Just setting the Keypad address alone on the 6150RF did not help as signals from wireless transmitters across the property were received after a very very long delay (about 2 minutes). It seemed like the radios on the 6150RF and the 5881EN were conflicting on the receiver address (perhaps). Here is how you can turn off the wireless capabilities on 6150RF and continue using the 5881EN on the Vista like before. Step 1: View the keypad address on the 6150 (non-RF) before disconnecting it: Press and hold down the [1] & [3] keys at the same time for about 3 seconds. The current keypad address is displayed. No key entry is allowed. Press any key to exit or wait 10 seconds to exit viewing mode. Step 2. Connect the new 6150RF: Power down the Vista panel. Disconnect the 6150 (non-RF) and connect the new 6150RF. Always power down the Vista panel before attempting to add a new hardwired keypad. Failing to do this could result in damage to the system. Step 3. Program the new 6150RF: Power up the Vista panel with the transformer. Within 30 seconds of power up hold the keys [1] & [3] on the 6150RF keypad. The 6150RF display will then flash "00" and "--" alternately Step 4. Reset the 6150RF to default values: Press [9] for the program address -> Keypad displays "EE". Press [1] for the choice to reset -> 6150RF beeps thrice and display will then flash "00" and "--" alternately confirming reset. Step 5. Set key pad address: Press [1]. Keypad displays "cA". Enter the keypad address you got for the old key pad. Complete by pressing [*] Step 6: Set the receiver address to 00: Press [2] for the program address -> Keypad displays "rA". Enter [0][0]. Complete by pressing [*] Step 7: Set the House ID to 00: Press [3] for the program address -> Keypad displays "hl". Enter [0][0]. Complete by pressing [*] Step 8: Set the House ID Source: Press [4] for the program address -> Keypad displays "hS". Enter [1] for "System". Complete by pressing [*] Step 9: Set Receiver Enable to 0: Press [6] for the program address -> Keypad displays "rE". Enter [0] to disable to receiver. Complete by pressing [*] Step 10: Set Transmitter Module Enable to 0: Press [7] for the program address -> Keypad displays "tE". Enter [0] to disable the transmitter module. Complete by pressing [*] Step 11: Set High Security Mode: Press [0] for the program address -> Keypad displays "En". Enter [1] to enable high security mode so that non-encrypted wireless keys will not function though transmitters and receivers are already disabled. Complete by pressing [*] Step 12: Exit programming. Enter [*][9][9] to exit programming. No harm in pressing [*][9][9] a few more times just to ensure you have exited programming Test the 6150RF for various user functions. Use the supplied manuals

Good for Second Keypad
The product is exactly as advertised. Very easy to install and a replacement for a keypad on a current Vista alarm panel. In my case, it replaced a keypad on a 25 year old system and worked fine. I then upgraded the panel and the keypad continued to work fine (but did need to have its address changed from the default 31). However, this model would be a terrible choice if you only have one keypad on your system as it's essentially impossible to program the alarm panel without the alpha display available on the 6160 keypad which only costs a few $ more. Also, be sure one of your keypads is the RF version if you anticipate adding any wireless devices.

Easy Replacement For A 6128 Keypad
Excellent replacement for a 6128 keypad. Hereโs a quick summary of the steps: 1. Unplug alarm panel from power and disconnect the backup battery (notify alarm company before doing this if your system is monitored). 2. Remove 6128 from mounting bracket by pushing tabs with a screwdriver. 3. Cut wires from 6128 connector and remove mounting bracket from wall. 4. Install 6150 mounting bracket to wall 5. Strip about 1/4โ of the insulation from each wire. 6. Connect each wire by inserting in holes on the side of the terminal and tighten the screw above each hole. Yellow wire to โYโ, Green wire to โGโ, Red wire to โ+โ and Black wire to โ-โ. 7. Snap unit onto mounting bracket. 8. Power on alarm panel and reconnect backup battery. 9. Enter your code and โoffโ a couple of times to clear and you should be good to go.

Unless you enjoy hours of frustration, try a different keypad.
The 6150 keypad is virtually impossible to program, despite carefully reading the instructions and watching several videos online. After several hours, we finally gave up and will try a different product. Perhaps the 6160 model is better. But I don't recommend spending your money on the 6150.

a perfect replacement for an old 6150 keypad
the keys on my keypad (silicone) no longer worked as they should, with the risk of entering the wrong code. I found a 6150 here as a replacement. Not new, but defined by the seller as "Used - Like New". And it is. To install it, you have to open it up and the whole thing (motherboard and white plastic case) is effectively like new. The plastic has not yellowed and the motherboard shows no signs of ageing. That said, before replacing the keypad, a word of advice: check the ID of the existing keypad (by default 31, but may have been changed by the installer, which was my case) because if the ID is different, it will NOT be recognized by your system, even if electrically it works! This saves you having to put the old one back in (because the new one doesn't work...), get its ID, remove it, put the new one back in and set the new ID. When everything has been replaced and the correct ID set, my alarm system works perfectly. And the buttons press correctly. A good buy, I recommend this seller (fast shipping and product as described).

Not simply plug and play, but once I found how to program my alarm for this it works fine.
Not an issue or problem, it's the alarm that needs to be programed for a new keypad, I didn't know this. It took a bit of time on the internet but I found how to do this and it works fine. My old keypad developed a button requiring a firm push to make contact, very annoying, and I like the bigger buttons on this keypad.

Replaced Ademco keypad ... Yes!
Replaced an Ademco 6128 LCD keypad with the Honeywell 6150 and it works slick. All programming stayed the same ... plug & play! Very happy with product and cost.
