Pretty good work light, seemingly Poor Customer Service...Time will tell!
I'm on the fence giving 4 Stars as I strongly considered 3 Stars....Let me begin by saying that part of an overall good experience of purchasing "any" item includes being provided easy access to customer service and a good experience when contacting customer service. Coleman Cable (CCI) is the parent company for Designers Edge products.....1. This L1315 Work Light provides really bright light for my families needs (working on cars, cleaning in dark spaces, hobby light, etc.).2. The construction is not of the strongest quality -- plastic surrounding the LED Light housing area with a "Glass" Lens and a base that is not quite thick/heavy enough to truly handle the unit (being a little top heavy). It can easily fall over if not on a perfectly level area and/or the top light portion not being adjusted with too much lean.3. Happily, the electric cord is of a heavier construction.Overall, pretty happy with the work light....but-->4. The light was purchased in January 2014 and working well until last week when I picked it up to put it on a work bench and the Glass Lens unexpectedly shattered into tiny pieces (I'm guessing it's Safety Glass and that's ok). I'm not sure why the company would be using a glass lens instead of a plastic lens. This only seems to add to the overall top-heaviness of the work light.5. This Glass Lens Breakage leads me to CCI's Customer Service. I am NOT having a very good experience so far in trying to find out if I can purchase a Replacement Lens -->a) 2 websites listed on a sticker on the the work light itself>> 1) http://www.designersedge.com/ is not working at all. The other website = www.colemancable.com IS Valid BUT they have a very poor website. Not particularly geared toward a regular consumer (more commercial/industrial) and not set up with much information for the average consumer of Designers Edge products. When doing a search for this L1315 model, you get results corresponding to L1315 - EPISTAR WORK LIGHT WITH EPISTAR LED (no mention of Designers Edge but the picture and description seem to match). They do have an additional site = www.cci-parts.com where it does list different replacement lenses but none that I could find for the L1315. Most of the selections did not have a photo so I couldn't try and find out if a lens from another model would even work with the L1315....b) I did fill out an email webform to get some help but their dropdown menu choices were quite limited. Submitted it anyway. I hope they read the comments section... I also expected to receive some sort of automated response stating that I had submitted a question to Customer Service but never got that either....Once again, not a great website.c) I decided to also call their Customer Service Phone Number (1-800-561-4321 as listed on their website and per a Customer Service response on one or two of the reviews here). I called today 8/29/14, a Friday at 1330 PST. Waited on hold listening to CCI propaganda messages for 15 minutes then the recordings stopped - it "seemed" as if the call was answered, stayed on the line for another 5 minutes of silence then the call disconnected! Now, if you have core customer service Contact hours then list them on the website AND speak them out to the caller during the phone call and don't let the customer wait in a telephone call queue that will never be answered (just a hunch that their customer service had gone home for the day)! I tried a 2nd time at 1400 PST, waited for 36 minutes (multi-tasking, doing housework) then heard a message stating "We are currently experiencing system problems and are unable to process your call. please try again later." Heard this message around 4 times then was also hung up on. During the on-hold time, I was given the option to "Press 9" and leave a message. I had no confidence that I would ever get a return call so did not go that route.d) Found another email address = [email protected] and will send an email via my own email program (not a webform) to see if I get a response. I do not expect any response today. Hopefully by Tuesday since it is the Labor Day long weekend for most people...It's fine having a warranty but not fine if you cannot easily contact customer service for any reason....CCI needs to update/fix their Websites and IVR system so they can provide a much better experience. The jury is still out on "if and when" they will respond to my email inquiries. Hopefully I will be able to update this review with more positive information...

Sorry Amazon this is an unimpressive work light
I purchased this LED light to replace my energy hungry, bulb eating halogen light. Right out of the box I was disappointed. The light body even though bulky in appearance is quite fragile. One good fall at a work site would break the housing. The swiveling lamp assembly refuses to stay vertical and always tilts. The light is very bright indeed but unfortunately casts a small but harsh light footprint. The light engine has no type of light reflector and relies solely on the beam spread of the LED bulbs. The beam spread is further hindered since the LED engine is recessed back in the lamp. The light engine also has no formidable heat sink. Big mistake. The manufacturer could have easily eliminated one third of the LEDs present and increased light coverage by simply incorporating a simple chrome plastic reflective system behind the LED array.Since there is a large number of LEDs, a high current inrush is generated upon activation which is something that the most deficient internal circuitry is ill equipped to handle. Further the internal circuit board has a soldered in fuse which is a cheap shortcut and is totally unserviceable by the average user unless they are bench technicians who then must completely disassemble the lamp. This fuse is sure to fail on a job site when the lamp is inevitably connected to long extension cords which is the norm. This very fuse was blown when I first received the lamp which was DOA out of the box! This overpriced lamp was obviously rushed to market with little R&D. This seams to be the case with most Coleman portable illumination devices that I have had to repair. I would not recommend it.

Does a good job but two caveats...
It does put out a lot of light and it runs a lot cooler than an incandescent, or even a fluorescent, work light. However, I've found two annoying things:1 - It puts out a tremendous amount of power line and RF noise. When it's on, it basically incapacitates most of my home automation system (it took me a little while to figure out why lights were flipping on and off at random), and it makes listening to FM radio while working pretty difficult (and my favorite station is a strong local one). I'm going to try putting a ferrite bead on the power cord and using a filtered outlet strip to see if that helps.2 - The power switch failed after only a few times of use. Fortunately it failed in the "always on" way, so I can still use the light by unplugging it to turn it off - a minor inconvenience. If it had failed in the "always off" way I'd be more upset :-)I'm still using it despite those things because it performs its basic function well; putting out a lot of light with not much heat.

So far, so good.
No it's not likely 1600 lumen, but it is not adding 20 degrees to your room temperature, either. And there is the curious sticker on it that says, right under Made In China, "Not For Use In Dwellings". (See photo)But then it doesn't use fragile bulbs. We've all broken work light bulbs, right? Then what? You got a spare anywhere close? Probably not. Having just gotten the thing I don't know how fragile it might be, time and other reviewers here will tell. It's got more than enough light for me, but how to demonstrate? I uploaded some indoor photos at night, just a slight light from a hall and this L1315.It's a little pricy, but if I don't ever have to change a bulb and it doesn't make for added sweat, I'm happy with it. I'll just have to find something else to keep lunch warm.
