Very odd looking antenna that is super cool. Be careful as it appears delicate and made of light copper tube and a copper wire. Very artistic. Practical for more of a base unit than a regular ht.

I chuckled when I saw this 'mag loop antenna' but being a radio nerd I thought "why not?". I've not tested the SWR but there is no transmission/reception difference on my HT's between this and a standard antenna, at least in my environment. And if you think you're going to use it in a working situation like the picture, nope. This thing is not flexible and will catch on everything plus you have to tolerate the excessive amounts of "what's that thing?" questions. Then there is the problem of trying to position the antenna for proper signal propagation.I gave it two stars because it does work but other than that, just use the proper length antenna for the frequency you're on and stick to the basics.IDK. Maybe if you set up a mag mount external antenna with a proper base plate and use your HT as a low powered mobile it would do better but I don't care to play with it any longer.

Cheap construction. Would be better off building my own antennas.

It sounded great and I really wanted it to work, but it didn't pick up repeaters that my old antenna did.
