CoinSafe Capsules for Large Dollars, box of 10 (38mm)

These CoinSafe capsules (38mm) are the ideal size for Morgan and Eisenhower U.S. dollar coins. They are clear and durable, but many arrive scratched or scuffed. They are also pre-assembled, so it is sometimes difficult to pry the two halves apart. They provide excellent protection from mishandling and environmental factors. On Amazon, at this time, only Collectons offers this size CoinSafe capsule. Collectons offers a better price on their own website, but you will need to order more than one because they have a flat-rate shipping charge.

My box came looking worn and tossed around. Protectors came with dividers, but 10 out of 10 capsules has smears, scratches or mars (obvious rubbing on each other) on them. I wasn't exactly looking for a museum piece protector, but wasn't expecting "pawn shop" quality. Gave it 2 stars only because at least none were cracked. Ironic. Protectors not really protected?....Sad purchase.

These capsules hold the Canada 5 Dollar one ounce silver coin nearly perfectly. There is a tiny gap as the coin is slightly thicker than the coin holding chamber, but it is permissible. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because the capsules are all stuffed into the box with no dividers, causing them to rub against one another, creating small radial scratches in many of them.

The two boxes I ordered had paper dividers between all the holders. They were all scratch free and crystal clear.They are a little difficult to open, but that is a good thing. They should stay closed after the coin is inserted.
