Fishing Right where You Want
This is a great anchor! I kayak fish and have three 3/4-inch scupper holes through which the 5/8-inch Pelican anchor spike easily passes. Depending on wind direction, I can spike the anchor through the scupper hole that points me right in the direction I want to cast. It comes with a rope and a pair of little clips to stow the rod. Great tool for a kayak fisherman (or fisherwoman).

Junk don’t buy
Absolute junk. Don’t waste your money . I bought it not knowing when I would ever need it. Used it for the first time and it snapped like a twig. The fiberglass cracked and the fitting fell out

Perfect for kayaks and other small boats.
I primarily use this on my fishing kayak to push off and check the water depth in the shallows. I even used it once when the kayak was hung up on a sunken tree. I like the fact it comes in two pieces for convenient storage while paddling.

Awesome Product
Awesome product, as good as other brands that are double the price. And the fact that is breaks down, makes the storage much easier. Very happy with the purchase.

Great for my kayak
My husband bought this for kayak fishing because when you’re in the middle of a stream or trying to launch off, there’s not usually an easy way to do it alone! This definitely makes it 10x better, and he says it’s awesome. Much better than the DIY version he made that fell apart!

No the strongest
I wouldn’t use to push my kayak around but it’s fine for staking out as long as you push it straight down. Any angle and it will probably break.

You don't receive what is shown in pictures
Update: Broken on first use. Not quality at all. The pole itself is .9" as stated in description, but the connection is riveted and makes it 1"+. So it does not fit my anchor point. The pictures do not show the rivets. Also the anchor I received does not look anything like the pictures. Guess they got cheap since the last photos. I do not recommend.

After reading all the bad reviews of this breaking, I took a risk and still ordered it because I needed a shallow anchor that can pack down smaller and there wasn't really any other options available for where I live. I had already an idea how to mod the area that the other reviewers stated that would break. But I was pleasantly surprised when I received the item and and seems like Pelican has fixed the issues. The one I received has a metal coupling that actually fits over top of the fibreglass rods and had a rivet type connector that fastens the couplings to the rods. These changes should make the coupling stronger and in fact seems now is the strongest point on the anchor. So far so good. Tried it fishing with our 14 ft inflatable catamaran and held up even with some strong winds. Gave it 4 stars because I don't really understand the point of the foam on the pole. If using it as a push pole, It's under water anyway and when using it as a shallow anchor, the foam gets in the way of going through the ring on my boat. So I ended up cutting it off so it is easier to anchor.

It's too bad, it seems like an well made product. But I wanted to use it as a DIY manual power pole. The way it's designed with the middle connection they are not flush together which makes the transition is not smooth when deploying/ raising.
