Will the child's version fit a short adult (4'11")?

Dear Valued Customer: It might fit 4''11 with our child version of the apron. The child version 17 inch wide and 21 inch height (without the neck strap). The apron comes with an adjustable neck strap which can be extended to an extra 10 inch. Nikki

Is the fabric thick? (Thick like canvas)

It is not thick like canvas. It is plain weave cotton but the fabric looks very strong and durable.
