A great switch
A great 10g switch. When turned on, the fan does make quite a bit of noise, but it quickly gets very quiet. I have been using mine for over a month, without issue. It also works well at 5g and 2.5g speeds.

Great Switch
This is a great switch at a great price. The unit is small, so it does not take up a lot of space. Nic that the cable ports are in the back which allows a cleaner installation. Works well!

Exceptional product.
Works extremely well. Low power usage. I really like the lights in the front and the connectors in the back. Great low price.

Too loud for bedroom use
When I first turned it on, the fans spun up to max speed, then went back down, but even after prolonged use, there is often some kind of fan noise that is greater than the other networking equipment in my bedroom. I should have checked and bought something fanless, even if it meant fewer ports. I did not get a chance to test the speed (it can go above 1 gigabit/sec, that's all I can say for certain as I did not do any proper testing/benchmarking), and I only used it for a couple of days, so I have no idea how reliable it is in the long run. Only buy this if you plan on putting it somewhere where the extra noise will not bother you.

Simple to use and well made Gigabit switch
Quality construction. Works at the speeds advertised. Easy to install into an existing network. I used it to bridge two subnets into one high speed net. Works flawlessly.

If you are looking for an 8-port GB switch, this one is a great deal.
There are several pros with this switch, and no cons that I can identify. It's small, but sturdy and metal, not plastic. The performance is there, as several speed tests show it's delivering to spec. The reason I chose this one over others is because it has LEDs on the front side facing me, and all the ports and power jack on the back side facing the wall. This used to be the "norm" but for some reason, companies are moving away from this logical design (I'll presume it's a cost factor). The 5-port switch it replaced, a D-Link model, worked fine, but has the power jack on the side of the plastic box, so it kept moving around on the shelf, and the LEDs were on top, so I had to get close to see activity. Anyway, to get two of these for $50 was such a great deal I felt I should leave a review and tell others interested in purchasing this model, there's no need to hesitate.

It has the ports and power in the back. Thank god
Great little switch, fit perfect for our application. I need access so it’s in a cubby on my main desk, but there’s a false back so I can swap cables with little disruption. Take a small power cable that goes to a medium size power brick. Moderately bright lights for status. The best part all the cables are in the back, ports for cables. So many switches now have front power plugs. This makes for a horrible installation imho. Best to keep all your cables on the same side, this also makes sense from a noise isolation stand standpoint. Great switch, easy as it comes to setup and has a great support plan included. They warranty the unit itself for life, you won’t need to use that warranty. These things once they work will work for 10-20 years if left undisturbed. Don’t over think it. Speeds are as advertised. I’d buy another one. Metal case with a small footprint as well.

Fan noise and heat fix!
In regard of the item, its is very good. I have had zero issues whatsoever when it comes to performance but there is a heat and fan noise issue. I opened the item myself because a $300 item shouldn't make this much noise and it shouldn't get this how. Come to find out the fan was installed WRONG! Instead of pushing all the hot air OUT of the metal casing, it was pushing hot air IN too the components with no other place for the hot air to exhaust. If you having issues, I would recommend (If you know what you are doing) and checking of the fan is installed correctly. The sticker side should be facing the ventilation hole, NOT the components. z After installing properly and doing Trendnets job. The temperatures have lowered significantly, its NOT extremely hot to the touch anymore and the fan noise are there but extremely reduced. Instead of hearing the noise from 10 plus feet away, now i can hear if im a 1 feet away. Hope this helps! Trendnet, you need to do better!
