What is the difference between 8 and 8 m? which one is wider?

I am not certain by I have always believed that 8 with no indication of width would automatically be medium.

Photo shows different material between the toes. Some have leather and some nylon strap. Which is it?

I have the leather ones but these are not the leather ones.
