Aquacel packing works quite well
I have used Aquacel "rope" packing now for nearly three years and I have found it meets my needs. The AG (silver-bearing) "rope" also helps with weeping wounds.

Silver thread does nothing
It's great at soaking up extra fluid in an open wound, but I re-infected while using it so the silver thread claim is suspect in my book
