Magnalite Classic 18-Inch Oval Covered Roaster

I recently received this packaged nicely as it should be,upon unpacking I noticed that the lid did not fit correctly. Though amazon I contacted the seller which called me within a minute or two,this surprised me . Talking with person on the phone and telling him the condition of the lid on the roaster I believe in my opinion the roaster itself was warped in the middle,but anyway he told me he would be happy to help and send me a new roaster asap which he did. The New Roaster arrived very quick with No manufacturing issues. I have to admit this is bigger than I had really wanted and could have a slightly smaller pot. So in using it the first time it cooked great the one concern I have is the lid inside turned a darker color for some reason,just hoping it is nota defection of the material. All in all it’s pretty darn nice

Purchased this as Christmas gift for my husband; our old roaster had no cover and it was scratched and dented. Hubby was absolutely thrilled with this gift! The roaster is huge, heavy duty, and very attractive. It was very easy to clean after roasting a 25+ lb. turkey. Some folks say the new Magnalites are not as good as the old ones, but I don't see how this one could be improved upon. We have only used it once, though, so I will update my review if my opinion changes. Right now I say well worth the money spent -- a high quality item that looks like it will last for decades (and beyond).

My mother always used Guardian Service cookware, bought back in the early 1950's, which was the ultimate in cookware then, also being cast aluminum. I inherited her cookware (which they no longer make) but not until I had already purchased a Magnalite set, which is the closest match to the Guardian Service. It is true waterless cooking. Easy clean up. I never had to "season" mine first (that's usually only done with cast iron cookware) and I've had most of my Magnalite pieces for 30 years. A 15 lb turkey fits in the 15" roaster and I get raves every Thanksgiving . . . the roaster practically makes it's own dark, rich gravy and the turkey meat is so moist! To me, as a devoted family "chef", nothing on the market can beat Magnalite.

UPDATE: Rating increased from 1 to 5 stars. I have received my replacement pot and it has none of the warped lid issues. The lid fits perfectly and the pot is HUGE. For the price, this is a great deal!{Original review}: I saw a couple reviews from others that noted the lid did not fit their Magnalite pot correctly, but discounted it based on the numerous other good reviews. The box I received looked as if it had been opened before, but was taped up. Unfortunately, the pot that was included in this box had a badly formed or warped lid too. In one place the bottom of the pot extended beyond the diameter of the lid, and although I cou get it to sit where both ends seemed seated (mostly), there were long gaps along the sides that are not typical of any Magnalite products I've ever used before. I've requested a replacement through Amazon and will update this review after I receive a replacement.

I Love this Cookware! I almost did not purchase it because of all the negative reviews. No, it is not the Original Wagner Ware that I have used for years but, Good luck finding that. The only way I can tell the difference is by turning it over and it reads Magnalite Classic made in China. That has not affected the cookware at all and it comes with a 50-year limited warranty. So, with Proper use & care it will out last you and you can pass it on to someone else when you are gone. Read the Use & Care Guide very close. Hand wash only! Never use scouring pads or abrasive cleaner of any kind.Never Ever wash in a dishwasher! you will damage the finish and you will be lucky to get back half the shine with lots of cleaning and polishing. As with the Original Wagner Ware some foods will darken the inside of this cookware as well, I find it is easy to clean by using "BAR KEEPERS FRIEND CLEANSER & POLISH" available at your local Dollar General Store. I am not, sorry I made this purchase. I would do it again. That is how much I love them.

I bought this item because I love the vintage MagnaLite roasters. This new item, however, was a disappointment on several levels. First and foremost, the lid did not fit the pan. There was a significant gap between the pan and the lid that likely was caused by bending or warping of either portion. Additionally, the weight of the aluminum on this item appeared to be notably lighter than the material used for the vintage roasters. Finally, the product packaging for the this roaster (the Magnalite box, not the Amazon box) was significantly damaged on one corner, as if it had been dropped. That box damage was not likely to have caused the item defect, but it did represent professional mishandling of the item at its packaging point. We returned the roaster and received a quick, no problem refund from Amazon. At that point, we ordered a vintage roaster from eBay, and it completely met all our expectations.

Love this! My mother had one from 1970 that she received as a wedding present. We still use it to this day and it makes a great pot roast as well as anything else you want to roast! I loved hers so much that I had to have one for myself! From the very first corned beef, it works every bit as well as hers. The size is perfect for any large roast with vegetables, potatoes and all the goodies with even room left for more! I originally bought the 18 inch but that one was a bit big for normal use, although would have been great for a big turkey!

I purchased this for my son Not realizing how big it would be, he’s a single guy, and it really was a bit too big, if your doing cooking for a lot of people then this is the go to pot, extremely well made and will outlast anything else on the market, I have some that are 30 years old and I’m sure will be past down to my grand kids, extremely durable.

Since I will be using this gigantic roaster only during Thanksgiving/big family gatherings, I'm glad I ordered this and not the more expensive brand. It's everything I want my roaster to be. Material is thick and heavy and for sure it's not going to warp. I would not want it to be any heavier. The lid fits...no gaps in between the lid and the cookware. Measurement of cooking space is true to size... 18" across (not including the handles). This is by far the biggest cookware in my kitchen. Can't wait to use this Magnalite oval roaster.
