Classic Romeo Slippers for the Classic Man
These are classic mens Romeo Slippers. I've had two pair before, each lasted over ten years, and these are the best pair that I've ever had. The leather is smooth, and of a fine quality. The fit is perfect for my size. The soles are the only thing that I would call "modern" on these slippers. The soles are hard rubber, with a little tread, which should keep you from slipping if you walk outside with them.If you've never had classic Romeos before, here's what you're in for: the backs are high and stiff at first and will take some breaking in. I would highly recommend using a shoe horn at first. Theses slippers are more like wearing an "inside the house" shoe than what many people think of as a slipper. They provide good support for your feet and ankles, especially if you're going to be walking or standing on hard surfaces. They look great. The classic look is something from the "Clark Gable" generation. I fully expect to get 10+ years of wonderful services from my new Romeos. Many of us remember our grandfathers wearing Romeos. This is a classic man's look and feel.I've read several reviews from people who seemed disappointed that they had a stiff back, or required some break-in period. If you're a guy who wants something soft and fluffy, these are definitely not for you. Perhaps you'd be happier with a fluffy pair with a kitty on them; maybe from the woman's section.

The slippers my husband has been dreaming of
My husband and I remember our grandfathers wearing slippers like these. A few years ago he asked for some for Christmas, but I was unable to find them locally. A year or so later I found them online but they were sold out, and now I know why - it seems there is only one company still making them! This past Christmas I ordered early, the slippers arrived in a matter of days and were well packed (the shoe box was inside a shipping box)and the slippers were exactly as described. They are well made and according to my husband, extremely comfortable, it helps that they are available in wide width. I should note that they fit a bit snugly (though not uncomfortably so) the first few wearings, but after a few days the leather conformed nicely to my husband's foot and he absolutely loves them.

Keeping up with inflation?....
This is one item that I have been purchasing for the past 30 plus years. I think I've purchased at least five pair during this time period. But never had a problem with the cost. They were always affordable during any of these years, until recently. But, I was able to find this pair about 10% less than just about any where else, and in my common size, and they fit like a glove, a very good glove. Now, if they last as long as the other five pair, only time will tell, then, and only then, I could say that I made another good purchase. It's been a pleasure....I think...ask me in a few years....John

Wherefore art thou, Romeo?
This is actually a lightweight casual shoe, not a slipper. On bare feet, the fit is loose and a bit clunky. With a pair of socks the fit is true and perfect. And that is why I bought these - I wanted a pair of indoor/outdoor slippers for fall and winter that can be worn with socks. I've always worn moccasins but found out (the hard way) that they are deadly slippery on snow and rain-slicked grass. The five star rating is based upon my intended use of the product, as well as my assessment that it seems to be well made with good quality leather and a sturdy rubber sole.If you want solid slippers for taking out the garbage, walking the dog or taking a quick trip to the beverage mart, these may be a good choice for you. If you want slippers to put on bare feet for gliding around the house, I would not recommend this product.Wherefore art thou, Romeo? You don't look so romantic on my feet.

Slippers are nice looking and very comfortable!
Slippers received my dad’s approval! My Dad wore the same Romeo slippers for 65 years. He needed a new pair but couldn’t find any locally. I found these on Amazon. The Tamarac slippers receive FIVE stars because they are everything my Dad wanted in a slipper … leather uppers and elastic inserts. Although the rubber soles were updated from his first pair, he’s very pleased because it makes the slippper even more comfortable. The slippers are a perfect size—and fit so well that he didn’t even need the special 'boot' medically prescribed for one of his ankles …that alone is huge! The slippers are so comfortable that he wore them out grocery shopping on Saturday and to Church on Sunday … and plans to wear them for everything. It’s fits him better than an athletic shoe and a lot easier for him to get on and off his feet. He is so pleased with the quality workmanship and the great fit that allows him to wear slippers without anyone knowing it!

DIFFERENT
I have worn this type slippers for at least 35 years. To get them on a shoe horn is required. Once they are on your feet they are comfortable. I have no idea why the shoes are designed and built to be so hard to get on, but can only say that they will spend a lot of time in the closet..

These are great!
I have flat feet. I need arch support. These are perfect. I can still slip in and out of them without using my hands. They do not easily fall off my feet when I'm lounging. My feet do get warm in them. When I first put them on, I thought I had been sent the wrong size as they felt rather snug. However, after about a day, the leather became less stiff and now they don't feel snug at all. There is plenty of toe room for wiggling the piggies. Now I need a smoking jacket.

Started Out Well, But Thrown Away Too Soon
I thought these slippers were fine, until the insole of the left slipper began to come unglued, and came out when I took the shoe off. This happened twice. The first time, I effected a fix by re-gluing the insole to the foot bed.The second time, frustrated, I guess I used too much glue, ruining it.I think mI used the slippers for about a year.So even though the slippers showed minimal wear; and although the right one was perfect, I had to throw the pair away.If I had known the country of origin, I may never have made the purchase in the first place!Money ill spent!
