We ordered box set 2 after box set 1 was a big hit with my 4yo. She loves reading them over and over and is incredibly proud she can do so alone. Cute illustrations, short and fun stories kept her entertained.

Very Challenging compared to Other Guided Reader Books of the Same Levels
I bought my kindergartener twins a variety of leveled books as they had advanced in their reading. I originally bought scholastic Level C, and then when my son advanced to Level D I bought a set of those. He was breezing through those so I bought Level E/F as well. Then I saw these and since they are Level C-D-E I tried them since my daughter was still at Level C and my son was at the point of D to almost E. Well, these books as so far superior to scholastic's of the same level. The Level C on this set of books is like Level D from scholastic. These are much more challenging, and I think a little harder in a given level category. So, these are a great learning tool. There are real stories, with a beginning, a middle, and an end - the other brand readers for the most part do not have this. Because of the structure and stories, these books will have more lasting power in your kid's library.
