Understand what you're buying before buying
This device works perfectly in configurations *that support it*. Make sure your switch or router is compatible with negotiating at 2.5Gbps at the port. This won't work in SFP ports and this also won't work in SFP+ ports that do not support manual negotiation at 2.5Gbps. That means things like the Unifi UDM Pro and SE will not work with this on its SFP+ LAN port. Likewise, the two reviewers who tried this with a Unifi Aggregation will *not* work as that doesn’t support 2.5Gbps manual negotiation. However, products like the Unifi Enterprise and "Pro" lines of switches (including the Unifi Aggregation *Pro*, again not the regular Aggregation as with the other two reviewers), as well as the Mikrotik CRS3xx line and CCR2004 *will* work, but negotiation will need to manually be set to 2.5Gbps. It will not autonegotiate properly at 10Gbps. This is fully expected behavior.Other than that, I get full 2.5Gbps both in and out locally as well as to the Internet on my 2Gbps WAN connection. Working great.

Worked great with microtik.
Worked great with microtik. Other end is a 2.5gb ethernet card in a pc. I did have to update the router OS, but I think the other connects are not really fair since this all depends on compatibility. Had I not found out that an OS upgrade on the switch was needed, I too would think this is garbage. It seems to when great, and connected at 2.5gb.

Will not work on Mikrotik SwOS switches
Bought this for CSS326-24G-2S+ switch and it didn't work. It should work on RouterOS devices though (CRSx series). Per Mikrotik Support, "The 2.5GBase-T modules are supported only in RouterOS devices". Make sure you check specs / consult with Support before buying.

Does not work with 2.5 gb ethernet on motherboard
I recently purchased a 2.5 Gb SFP adapter, and unfortunately, it did not work as expected. I had hoped to use this adapter with my motherboard's 2.5 Gb and 5 Gb ethernet ports, but the adapter was not compatible with these speeds. After some research, I found that in order for this adapter to work, both sides need to be an Ethernet to SFP adapter. This was not clear from the product description, and it was disappointing to find out that I needed additional equipment to use the adapter as intended. The quality of the adapter seemed good, and it was easy to install, but its lack of compatibility with my current setup made it unusable for my needs. Unfortunately, I had to return the adapter and find a different solution.Overall, I would only recommend this 2.5 Gb SFP adapter to those who are aware that both sides need to be an Ethernet to SFP adapter. For those who are not aware of this requirement, this adapter may not meet their needs.
