Sound Check: How Worship Teams Can Pursue Authenticity, Excellence, and Purpose

Very helpful book in planning worship services

This would be 5 stars except that it was longer than it needed to be and the author is a bit self-centered. He tells a lot of personal stories that only loosely connect to the message of the chapter and his tone is a bit self-satisfying. Other than that the content is excellent. Definitely geared towards a very large corporate worship environment but can be adapted easily by an already diversely experienced leader.

My friend Joe at work gave me a hard copy and said that I could pass it on after I finished. Maybe the best description I can give of this book is that if the M.W. Smith song, Heart Of Worship, was a book, this is what it would be like.I read it, took lots of notes, passed it on to the Praise Team leader at my church, and eventually bought the E-Book version. This book is great and useful in whatever capacity you serve others at church or at home. Sound Check can also be used as a personal home devotional book. Get it, and share what you learned from it.

This was a great book focused on the heart behind worship, which is everything. Kurt is Parks includes practical advice on how to cultivate personal worship, healthy worship teams, and authentic corporate worship community. I'm definitely going to use this as a resource to study with future worship teams and will recommend it to other worship leaders.

Kurtis explains concepts of worship, heart and authenticity in a way that are fresh and new. This book challenged my thinking and perspectives on why I do what I do. I highly recommend this book for not only worship leaders, but worship teams, sound techs, lighting guys, lead pastors and anyone else involved in weekly worship services.

This is the book I needed for my worship team. We have read and discussed several other books on worship, both devotionals and "worship how-to" books. Those conversations have usually been fruitful, but this book took us to the next level. We have grown spiritually, as individual musicians, and as a team leading worship. Get a copy for everyone on your team, you won't regret it!

Inspiring and quick read

This book does an excellent job on communicating the importance of the worship leader's relationship with God, being genuinely authentic! Good read and highly recommended.
