NinjaBatt A1502 Battery for Apple MacBook Pro Retina 13" A1493 A1582

I’m inclined to wait a while to report on this battery since I’ve had three replacements now from different companies. I didn’t feel like the last one (reportedly the oem supplier) was worth the cost. But so far this one has been doing fine. It has some instructions/conditions for optimal battery life that I don’t recall coming with any other replacement. I’m trying to adhere to those and generally keep from just siting with the charger plugged in all day. But the relief of being able to remove the charging cable at all was worth the price. Fit fine, battery life seems good, totally compatible with my late 2012 mbp 13” non-Retina. Time will tell if it duly performs its function and merits marks in quality.

So far so good. MacBook is back to preforming properly with this new battery. Comes with all tools needed to get the job done.

Old MacBook Pro from mid-2012 whose original battery died. While I've had issues with third-party batteries in the past, this one is working perfectly. It was a thoughtful touch that they included two screwdrivers, especially the Tri-Wing one needed for battery removal. I primarily use this MacBook via SSH, and noticed the system was running slowly without a battery. This is because Mac's power management system deliberately reduces performance when running solely on AC power to protect components from power fluctuations. Since I don't carry the laptop anywhere and it stays plugged in at the corner of my desk, I'm not concerned about battery life - I just needed it to restore full performance. I wrote a script to measure the battery discharge rate, plot is attached. It drained in about 11 hours, drain rate 8.6% /hour

installed it on a 2015 Macbook Air. Its holding a charge well. It is getting 5 to 6 hours of use until it needs to be recharged. Works well for an aftermarket battery in this price range. Installation is very easy especially with the included tools that come with the battery. No complaints.

Just received and installed. Of course it is a bit of technical job, requiring some tools and materials not provided with the battery, but if you're attempting this replacement you likely know that already. The battery manufacturer is reported as "Simplo" in Coconut Battery, which is Apple OEM. Manufacture date is 2025, so about 18 months old, ok. Capacity just a bit over original. For the price this battery is a bargain. Know what you're getting into with install (see video on the y tube by TekDek) but this one seems to be a good purchase. Will see how many cycles it lasts before 80%.

After paying for installation by a professional, my computer never worked well with this battery. I'm sorry I didn't return it before the last return date as it now can barely keep my computer on for any length of time. It goes off in the middle of word processing after being recharged overnight, and is often unresponsive when I need to open other programs. If I could get a refund at this point I certainly would, since I will now have to buy another battery somewhere else and pay for it to be installed. I don't recommend that anyone purchase this battery. Total waste of money.

So glad I bought this battery. My MacBook Air Model A 1466 that I bought in 2016 was not holding its charge any longer. The only solution was to buy a replacement battery and the NinjaBatt fit the bill perfectly. It comes with the necessary screw drivers to remove the back and the battery. After watching a tutorial by 'MADE by AP' it was easy peasy to install. So if you are slightly reluctant to do this on your own do not be concerned, it was not difficult at all. Tech service places charge from $150 to $200 for a replacement battery. This was a much cheaper way to go. And you don't have to wait a few days for your laptop to be in a shop.

The battery in my MacBook Pro A1502 (2015) was so bloated that it was starting to bow the case around the keyboard...I shouldn't have waited so long to replace it! I thought it would be expensive, but this was such a bargain to keep this machine running. I was surprised when I opened the new battery. It seemed so FLAT in comparison (well, that's how it is supposed to be!) It was challenging to understand how to remove the old battery with the provided instruction card, so I pulled up a YouTube video. My model was set up slightly different from the pictured model. It would have been great to have model-specific NinjaBatt video tutorials linked with a QR code on the card, to help make is clear which cables need to be disconnected and in which order. The old battery did take some patience to remove, and the gentle prying turned into a battle of wills between my hands and the adhesive (& my fear of the old battery exploding made me hesitant to use much force). It felt weird putting isopropyl alcohol in the case to loosen the adhesive, but of course it evaporates very quickly and causes no problem. Once the new battery was installed and cables were all connected (a simple process of reconnecting the cables in the order they were disconnected and adding screws back), i fired her up and checked that basic charging and discharging worked before putting the case back on. As far as i can tell so far, this is a quality replacement battery. She gets about 3 hours on a full charge now, which i think was about its top performance in 2015. Very happy to keep my browsing and basic graphics machine going!

Initial review Aug2022 - I was ready to retire my old 2015 macbook but took the plunge and decided to revive it. It was the best choice! After installing this and a new SSD it's working great and ready for a few more rounds. I take good care of my tech but I've never had a laptop last this long and still so fit for work. The old battery was swollen and in need of urgent replacement and this one fit perfectly. Taking the old battery out was hard work (YouTube can help with that) but installing this one was a breeze. The instructions were very clear and straightforward. It works perfectly and lasts much longer than the old one. Couldn't be happier! Update Apr2023 - battery worked well but lost most capacity after 6 months.

I put this into a Macbook Pro 13" 2017 (A1708) for my daughter. The original Apple battery was reported to need servicing. It is always a chore to remove the old battery as it is well stuck on the chassis. The battery does *NOT* come with a ribbon cable for the battery daughter board to the main logic board so do take care in keeping the original cable. Installation went well. Battery only had 5% charge so needed to run a full charge cycle. Coconut battery app reported the battery to be manufactured in April 2022. This is not too bad as I have had batteries from other companies sitting on a shelf for years. I can't say how this will perform as only time will tell. Some replacements I managed to eek out years while others only under a year.

Even though I read some bad reviews about the product, I was in need of a new battery asap. For the low price, and the fact that there's an actual brand name behind it, just made me more confident than buying something without a brand name. Maybe it's psychological, but... Got the product as advertised, with clear instructions. I took the time to do a lot of research about the calibration to make sure the instructions were reliable for my laptop. On my 5th discharge to calibrate as suggested. So far, so good. No weird behavior. I want to assume that some of the negative comments are customer error who don't follow the instructions properly or who were unlucky. No product is 100% perfect. I would also assume that a brand like this wouldn't be on the market for long if all of their batteries were bad? Anyway, I'm still a few days in and so far everything seems to be working as expected. I hope it stays this way for many years to come, of course.
