A Whale of a Tale! All About Porpoises, Dolphins, and Whales (The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library)

We love this series. Keep in mind that my son is four, so he needs these and the way they organize the basic ideas within these topics so he can frame his thoughts correctly. We are not so worried about every detail being exact, but just on him picking up a few bits of info, while getting a handle on the basic way things are set-up in the various scientific topics that this book series covers. This may seem like a review of the whole series and not just this book, but really I think they are consistent. If you are a more sensitive parent for certain topics, feel free to dodge the shark book, but we like them all, including that one. We have every one about the ocean, as well as the ones about bugs and pets. They are all consistently great with vivid illustrations and generous details.

This book from The Cat in the Hat Learning Library "A Whale of a Tale" is definitely packed full of information. It's not really for the younger audience as I tried to read it to my three year old at bedtime and she kind of got bored and would rather have went to bed then reading it. Because of this I had to reinforce some of the information they were given to her such as telling her which kind of porpoises were which and exaggerating some of the working like "oh my goodness look how big that is!" Anyway it's still a very nice book and a definite great addition to the rest of our Cat in the Hat learning library witches extensively accumulating. Definitely a good book for a new reader.Thanx <3

My grandgirl loved it! It's a winner!!!!

This is a fun book in the spirit of Dr. Seuss with lots of great facts for kids! My son frequently requests that we read him this book to him, and he always helps by identifying different cetaceans as we read. The text flows smoothly and is fun not only to listen to but also to read. We have one other book in this series, "Wish for a Fish," and are looking to get more for our collection!

This entire set of books is just a joy. My grandchildren absolutely love all of them, and we read them frequently. Then they talk about going to the beach house and how exciting it is that they know about all of these things! Great learning books.

a lot of great, accurate facts about whales dolphins and porpoises but still has the traditional dr. seuss tongue twisting words in it that make it cumbersome to read.

Dr. Suess books are always a big hit with my son. We have themed weeks for our homeschooling Montessori setup at home. We used these during our Ocean week. A Whale of a Tale was a fun book to read to my son. He really enjoyed reading this book. It was a great addition to our library and I am glad I bought it.

My 3.5 year old son got this book for Christmas along with the Wild Republic's 15" Beluga Whale (he's currently in a whale phase). This is a great book - well written and tells you all you need to know about Dolphins, Porpoises and Whales. He loves reading it at bedtime while cuddled with his stuffed whale. I actually don't mind reading it either - I learned the difference between dolphins and porpoises from this book!

We love Dr. Seuss books, and have many - such a brilliant children's author. We have recently stumbled onto the Cat in the Hat Learning Library and cannot get enough of them. They cover so many topics - mammals, animals, sea life, seeds, birds, our bodies, space, weather, etc. Our grandchildren love them, and I love reading them - it's wonderful when everyone enjoys the stories being told. Well written, nicely illustrated, and a good value for the cost. I highly recommend these books.

i thought this book was very informative! it makes for good bed time reading.am seriously thinking of going in for the other books in this series!
