Is the lens hood included or no? What will it add to cost?

I received this Pentax 21977 DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens today ordered through Web Offers via Amazon and it did not come with a lens hood. The included Pentax instructions in the lens box clearly states that the PH-RBC62mm lens hood is provided and it shows how to install it on the lens. It appears that the provided Pentax lens hood was removed from the lens box before it was shipped. Not good. I will return it.

How does this lens do for shooting sporting events? I would be using on a Pentax K30.

Too short a tele range for sports I would say. I use it for a walk around/travel lens. Weather resistant, good image quality, light.

Does this lens need a filter?

No more then any other lens. I use a UV filter to protect the lens/glass but not required. If you choose to you can use other select filters.
