I needed to add a reasonably priced watch to my collection and this SPB243 from the sub-collection from the Alpinist series did the trick for me.for a sub $1000 watch, the SPB243 has fantastic dial finishing, good case proportions, and a clean, retro modern look that gives the watch just enough character that you want to wear it, but not so much that it’ll look out of place.My only gripe about this model is that Seiko decided to use a display case back, which adds a tad bit more thickness than is necessary to show off a watch movement that isn’t very good looking. I would have preferred for Seiko to have used a low-profile steel case back on this 38mm diameter watch to shave a millimeter off of the total thickness.All in all, this is solid value for the money, and I am incredibly happy with this purchase.
