very nice station for the money!
Bought this to replace my very old iron with no temp control. This thing just works right out of the box. All I had to do was dial in my temp, wait a few seconds, and I was ready to work! Plus the auto sleep feature is very handy to have coming from someone who has accidently brushed up against a hot iron one too many times! Easily the best iron I could find in this price range. There may be others but this one works so well I see no reason to use anything else until the projects I work on call for it.

Good iron
Very compact and heats up rapidly. Worth the price. It has a lot of functions, including auto-on.

Skip the bundle with tips.
I did some research and this unit is very good. I'm definitely a beginner and I feel like I did well. I noticed on the reviews that the tips may not be as good. I found that the Hakko T15 tips work the same in the T12 handle. I guess T15 is the North American equivalent to T12. I bought a Hakko T15-D12 chisel tip, but for what I was soldering I should have gotten the Hakko T15-D32 tip. I unfortunately bought the multi tip bundle from Quicko. I started using the 3.2mm chisel tip from the bundle and it wasnt working well. I replaced it with the Hakko tip and it worked extremely well. So I know from sad experience that the quicko tips are not very good. I would skip that bundle and just get the unit, which is small light and powerful.

It is really really quick
Easily the best soldering tool that I have ever used. Pen isn’t fat and it grips well. Cable is soft and no kink flexible. It comes with the ideal tip. Sleep mode kicks in a little soon for my taste but it does save the tip for longer. Screw tabs would be nice to fasten the unit to the wall or under the table but I am not complaining. That is what duct tape is for.

Great iron, but...
Great iron that heats up as quickly as you'd expect as a station with these kind of tips, with the benefit of it being as cheap as it is. There's still a minor problem with grounding though, where the installed grounding wire that paths to the case is effectively blocked by the anodised coating. The fix is simple enough though. I removed the outer case of my unit, exposed the section where the ground wire/ring made contact with the case, and filed off the coating to expose the bare metal. After which testing finally showed it was properly grounded.

Excellent Value! (Order some real Hakko tips)
This station is an excellent value, and if it's not clear this is the version with the integrated power supply which is great. The tip it comes with is c**p, which is to be expected. Get yourself some actual tips and you got a great set up!

I bought this iron to replace my big pistol grip Weller, and a smaller 40w pencil iron. It heats up fast and is easy use. The tip that it came with was ok, but it was struggling a bit on some 12gauge wire for an esc connection. I had already ordered a hakko tip for it after reading a review elsewhere that the tips aren't great. With the new tip it soldered 12gauge wire easily and quickly. The lackluster tip is the only reason this is 4 star instead of 5. Great value soldering iron

Missing parts. Many people have noted that the solder pen locking nut is missing. Had to send it back. Reads "no pen" and as such, is not functional.
