Q: Some reviews say the fabric on the upper part of the dress looks cheap; is this true?

Keep in mind this is a $55 dress. I wore it to a formal black tie wedding and I don’t think anyone noticed it was an inexpensive dress. The top is sewn-on sequins . What I do not like about it is that the sequins on the arm stick to the sequins on the bodice, so I was constantly trying to get them unstuck - all night long. That was very uncomfortable and irritating.

Q: I have a tummy - is this good to hide that area?

It depends on how large your tummy is. I would suggest a tummy control piece. It’s a beautiful dress. The ribbon does accentuate the waist and the belly does appear behind the flow of the dress. Free returns make it good to be able to try.
