I am really glad they have this book in Kindle. I surely do not want to be toting the heavy book with me all the time.

good bk- Graphs not all included in Ebook format!
How much did I pay for this ebook??? I was willing to put the money out for this great reference book, and even willing to spend just as much for the ebook, so I didn't have to lug the heavy thing around.***But*** I pay this huge amount for this great reference book, and every once in a while it won't pull up a chart, "due to copyright restrictions". Goodness. I didn't feel that I needed to read the reviews for this book because I had an older edition, and had high recommendations for this edition.I'm not happy about having to go find the information myself.I REALLY wish I could rate the medium separately from the actual content.Content = 5 Stars!ebook= 3

Good Book
There is a lot of text and not a lot of diagrams and pictures, but it is very easy to ready and follow along with.

Nice physiology review; questionable management/treatment recommendations.
Most of my NP graduate education references current practice guidelines (CPGs) (i.e.,ACOG, AWHONN, AACE, CDC, etc.) and one of the few texts we employ is Varney's. It is soooo maddening to research CPGs then look at Varney's and find different treatment recommendations; sometimes I've even found information completely contradictory. This book is best used as a good midwife/NPs overview of obstetric & neonatal physiology (without getting as deep as in the OB/GYN Williams books) but NOT for management of care. Be careful.

This edition is cheaply made, the binding cover is flimsy and warped.
For the price one expects a quality book, this edition is cheaply made, the binding cover is flimsy and warped. My associates who bought it sent it back and got only slightly better back. It will have to be rebound with any real use.

Boring!
I dreamed for years of getting this book and I have been so disappointed. I have read much on pregnancy and birth, including college textbooks just for fun. This one is required for my midwifery studies and it is so difficult to read. It is wordy without giving much information and BORING! I also have Mayes and Myles and Holistic Midwifery and I ENJOY sitting down to read those. The UK midwifery texts are fantastic. Anne Frye's Holistic book is like a breath of fresh air. But this book... If it isn't required for your studies, skip it and go for the others. Or if you can get away with an older and thereby cheaper edition, then save your money. Spend the savings on one of the UK books and enjoy those.
