I was initially concerned with ordering this or any non-OEM part. Although there were numerous good reviews, there were also more than a few negative reviews. However, in this case I had no choice. The OEM parts were backordered at every repair shop I checked and I had an unhappy family with laundry piling up. On opening the part I inspected the coil and brackets and everything seemed very much in order. The only complaint I had is that one of the male prongs on frame was bent slightly. I determined it was not bad enough to prevent things from working and proceeded to install. It installed perfectly in the frame and then I toiled to get the frame back into the dryer. After several days of operation it is working fine. There was a "burn-in" odor for a shot period of time, but it disappeared rapidly. Other than the minor bend in the prong, I couldn't be happier with this purchase (as well as $50 richer, not counting what would have been labor costs to fix this). To the extent my happiness changes, I will try to update this review.

I have a 2017 Maytag dryer (model number YMED9700SQ0) that stopped heating but otherwise worked perfectly. I knew that to get a repairman out to look at it, I would probably be told that it was wasn't worth fixing. I decided to take a chance and try to repair it myself using this heating element and a kit for all other heating related parts in the dryer that I purchased separately. The heating element went in very easily and I am happy to say that my dryer now works beautifully once again. I have no idea which component of the heating parts was the original problem but I decided replacing everything made sense if I was opening up the machine anyways. I am so happy that I was able to fix the machine and extend its lifespan. Anything that can help keep things out of the landfills is a bonus in my mind.

I've kept my dryer running for 17 years thanks to this and a few other parts.

I've bought two of these over the last three years (we're using the dryer on average 10x per week). I was skeptical that parts 1/4th the OEM cost would be comparable lifecycle. Happily proven wrong! We managed over 800 loads dried with the first replacement element failed. It took a little digging to find OEM cross-reference part information online but so glad I did. $35 versus $128 OEM, and next day delivery versus 3-5 days via other suppliers.

It wasn't too hard to install though I do recommend replacing the upper and lower thermostats while you're at it. They are contained on the outside of the metal box you have to remove to replace the heating element (inside box). My clothes dry much more quickly now!! Note: I only rated longevity 3 stars as it has only been 3 weeks since replacement. I guess time will tell. Update: May 2024 and the dryer is still heating great. We are planning on getting a new dryer this year, but only because the top control panel has been flakey and it can't be repaired.
