Wenzel Great Basin 10 Person 3 Room Tent

Camp in Comfort in All but the Worst Rainstorms
If there was a 4.5 star option - I'd choose that one. It's too nice of a tent for a 4, so I'm choosing 5 but with a caveat.First, this is a nice large tent that allows you to stand up and move around. It probably sleeps 10, but we use it with only two people and a large dog who has her bed in the middle of the tent floor. It's relatively simple to set up with two people and could probably be set up by just one person, if necessary. The zippers on the windows and door all work smoothly and the rain guard fits nicely. That's where the caveat comes in - the rain guard. It works well for light showers and moderate rain but in the spring of 2015, we got caught in a true downpour in Red Rock Canyon in Oklahoma. OMG. This was no ordinary rain - it literally fell in buckets from the night sky. I woke up to a fine mist on my face and soon after, my friend on the other side of the tent woke up to a puddle on the cot. The rain was pounding down so hard that it penetrated the rain guard and after that, it pooled on the tent ceiling and dripped through. That's the only time it happened, though, and we've had it in moderate rains other times without trouble. So, the rain guard, while good - is not enough to withstand driving rain that does not let up. If you think you're going to be in a rain that hard, I'll tell you what we did - the day after - and it worked perfectly. We purchased one of those cheap plastic drop cloths painters use. Just a lightweight one that cost under $5 and the both of us worked it up and under the rain guard - so it formed an impenetrable layer between the tent and the rain guard. It rained again the next night - not quite so hard but we didn't get a drop in the tent. Unfortunately, because it'd been wet the night before, it was quite humid in the tent. We run a personal propane heater in the tent to stay warm, so it was a little like a sauna. LOLIt's unlikely you'll ever be set up in a rain like the one we had that night, but take along a plastic drop cloth just in case. You can open the windows to vent the tent. After the rainy camping trip - we brought the tent home, set it up, aired it and cleaned it out and the next time we set it up in the summer it was just perfect. There are too many great things about this tent to really rate it down because Mother Nature decided to send a deluge one night. If it's just two of you, take a big rug for the center of the tent, bring a couple of lawn chairs in and hand a lantern from the hook at the highest part of the tent roof. Plenty of room for cots, a cooler and, as I mentioned, a dog bed.I would absolutely buy this tent again. Just bring along that plastic drop cloth.

You do get what you pay for- fine light duty tent, poles shattered in the wind
You do get what you pay for, and it's worth learning to stake / guyline correctly and perhaps get better stakes. 1. We use cots so we would be able to get MAYBE five/six people in here. Before that we used air mattresses. MAYBE 5-6 people. On sleeping bags on the floor, MAYBE 9 people? The "room divider" is just a thin almost seethrough piece of nylon. 2. As always, learn how to properly run guylines and stake tent and rainfly. Go ahead and get special long stakes. Re inforce the proper staking BEFORE the desert gusts hit. We just came back from SoCal desert. Wind was forecast 20-30 mph with occasional 40-50 gusts- no idea exactly how strong the wind actually was. First night: All good. Second night: In the middle of the night daughter had to re stake her end because it collapsed on her, and put large rocks on the stakes to keep them down in the loose sand. Third day: we re inforced guylines and stakes with ropes around small boulders. Fourth Day: Woke up with one broken pole that still worked. Wind picked up, and by noon we had the originally broken pole plus 2 absolutely shattered poles and a four inch rip in our rain fly. I wish I had taken a picture. With heavy hearts because we had driven nine hours to be in the gorgeous desert with wonderful friends, we packed up and went home two days early. Husband is checking into where to get replacement poles and we are going to buy special footlong screw stakes for next time. I will probably do some creative sewing to re inforce the loops etc where we have to pass rope through to hold the tent steady and prevent the flapping that causes breaks and rips.

Excellent Family Size Tent and Even Better Customer Service - Totally Impressed!
May family camps in the Anza Borrego desert every year and we've gone through a number of tents due to the potentially harsh conditions and strong winds that can blow through there year round. I was not familiar with this brand but decided to give this tent a try due to the spaciousness and features that it included.Upon our first time using it, the area near the door ripped slightly upon zipping it up. In all fairness, it could have been our fault for staking it too taut in the first place. However, I've never had this issue with any other tent before. My wife reached out to their customer service department about the issue. With very little hesitation and a great deal of humility, they immediately replaced our tent. The replacement process was very easy and the customer service department was beyond amazing. We didn't have to mail a single thing back to them. We were even allowed to keep the old poles and accessories to use as spare parts in the future. It's not easy to find a company that stands by their product in such a complete and impressive way these days. So the fact that within a couple of days of us submitting our claim form and photos we had a brand new tent delivered to our front door was something that really floored us.The new tent is holding up excellently by the way. I can't say enough good things about the product and Wenzel as a company.Buy this one, you won't be sorry and you will get taken care of it anything should happen.

Poles broke 2nd time using it, customer service was fantastic.
Initially I loved this tent. It is very large and fit a pack and play, dog kennel, and queen mattress nicely. The reflective material on the ceiling is great as one flashlight brightens up the whole tent. However, we have only put the tent up two times and the second time we assembled it all but one of the poles shattered. I am calling customer service tomorrow and will update with how it was handled. I really wanted to love this tent!Update: i contacted customer service and they sent me all new poles with no questions asked and no need to return the broken ones. We have used the tent since then and are just careful about not letting the poles bend too much. We usually have someone go in the tent and lift up the poles from underneath it to reduce the tension. Changed my review to 4 stars because with the price and customer service this is an excellent and affordable tent for a family.

hale thunderstorms lightning and beautiful sun, it stood up to it all
We had 17-nights in this tent, down in Kent. We had every form of weather apart from snow!!!!wind, hale thunderstorms lightning and beautiful sun, it stood up to it all. We had 2-adults and 2-masstiffs dogs, and a whole heap of kit and we fitted comfortably. I think 10-people in this would be a bit of a squeeze, but a family of 5-6 would fit quite snug. I would give this tent 10 out of 10.

Not a good tent
A poor quality product . Small door zip catches and tears the material . Old fashioned elastic poles are difficult to take out . No total coverage of waterproof cover so when it's windy rain comes in . Cheep materials and poor thought have let this tent down .

Decent tent, but can be improved
I've been hunting for a larger family tent for a few years now. Of all the ones I've tested to date, this one has the most features, but is still missing many important features before it is worthy of a 5 star review. We'll likely keep it, it is nice and big, but I would love to see much less mesh, get rid of the pole sleeves replacing them with clips, and a full bathtub floor.Pro's:- Spacious- Fast feet system- Sturdy tarp floor- Some clips- TallCons:- Floor isn't a true bathtub floor, I don't know how well it will hold up in the rain- Uses sleeves instead of clips. Hands down, the easiest way to setup a tent is with clips. - Disclosure: tent has 4 clips, but setup would be greatly improved if the sleeves were replaced with clips- Has a lot of mesh, and I don't think it's no-see-um rated- Does not come with a full fly, and doesn't cover the windows or door.

Excelente tamaño
Tiene muy buena altura (sobre todo en la parte central), es muy fácil de armar (nos tomó alrededor de 10-15 minutos armarla la primera vez entre dos personas) y los materiales son de muy buena calidad.
