Can you put 2 normal swings seats on it or does it have to be configured as shown?

Configure as shown. My grandsons spend more time on the round net swing than the regular swing. Their is room for two 3 year olds.

How well do the four ground stakes work? Do you ever have to also add concrete to the four legs?

They work just fine. No concrete required here. My kids swing as high as I can push them, but they are also still young (3 & 2).

What is the gage or thickness of the legs on the swing?

Not sure of the gage but it is very sturdy even for older kids like 10 and 12
