Dead Like Me: The Complete Series (Ellen Muth, Mandy Patinkin, Laura Harris, Callum Blue)

My favorite series!!

Loved, loved, loved this show! Great plot, characters you care about, and beautiful premise made this one of the most original shows ever.

I'm kind of at a loss on why I liked this show so much. It's not my normal genre.

For some reason I did not catch the series when it was on TV, but I started watching the reruns and loved it. A few months ago I borrowed the DVDs from the library and watched all of the shows, except for the bonus movie, which they did not have. I really wonder why it only lasted two seasons as it was fantastic. When it is over it leaves you wanting more. Ok, some people did not like the cursing, the violence, the sexual scenes, but hey, that is what life is all about. You would be cursing too if your life was cut short. Yes, it should be for adults. Teens however might find it useful to get their lives in gear, as it explores what happens to Georgia when she is suddenly deprived of all the things she could have done. It seems the priority for becoming a reaper is not doing what you should/could have done, and at the same time being given a second chance to experience life. Lots of moments that will get you thinking and also lots of moments when you will burst out laughing. You will definitely fall in love with the characters has I had.

Been a Dead Like Me fan forever. After it stopped running on Roku years ago I wanted to get the come series so I can rewatch the shows as I wanted. Every time I rewatch them I notice little things I missed before and really enjoy watching them.

The series is great, with one exception: no subtitles, no closed captions. Seriously? The discs, however, are not. I was initially convcerned because there was a "rattler": disc 3 (I think) was loose and was quite scratched by the spindle. It played fine, though, so I could live with that. But there was a fatal problem. On disc 6 ("The Final Season Volume 1", disc 2), around 10-11 minutes in there are freezes and skips for several minutes starting around 10 minutes into the second episode. There were no naked-eye flaws or dirt on the disc; it simply wouldn't play correctly in either of my players or on my computer. I applied to Amazon for a replacement, and the replacement had the same problem in almost the same spots. I really wanted to own this series, but apparently the discs come flawed from the manufacturer. At least we can see the whole thing on Amazon Prime streaming, right now anyway.

The premise of the show is interesting and has potential, but the execution is spotty. Mandy Patinkin and Jasmine Guy are fabulous in every scene; that can't be said of the rest of the cast. Many of the characters are very unlikeable or just meh. I enjoyed about the first half of season one and have steadily been losing interest as I progress through. The exit of Betty and introduction of Daisy is where I began to lose interest. Ellen Muth annoys me, not in a good way. Christine Willes is superbly annoying as Delores Herbig. Watching her performances is a conflicting experience. Delores is so irritating, but you can't look away. She's the character you love to hate.

A fairy tale about Grim Reapers. That is the best way I can think of to describe what is one of my favorite series. No matter how many times I have re-watched this series I still love it as much as I did the first. The writing, sets, cinematography, characters, and actors are perfectly fitted. It is easy to see how much everyone involved with the production truly loved what they were doing and as an audience member I cannot help but love it as well.

Loved this TV series. To this day still my fav TV show. Ordered this box set and it came in the mail as 2 packages which i thought was weird. But for some reason 1 episode skips everytime i play it. The disc isnt even scratched must be a printing error so that kinda sucks. Still watched the whole series about 5 times, sucks it was cancelled.
