WORKS GREAT AND PUMPS FAST
For my purposes, this a very good item for pumping light liquids such as water and a small amount of fuel like from a lawn mower. It really pumps a large amount in a very short time. 2 AA batteries and a push of the switch and the liquid moves very quickly.

Fast & Simple.
I get a 10 cent gallon discount for every $50 dollars I spend at our grocery store, up to 30 gallons. Additional discounts at special times for gift cards and other items. I often accumulate enough for 30 free gallons. None of my vehicles will hold 30 gallons, so I use gas cans to get my maximum benefit. My older cans work great, just a simple spout, though they will sometimes drip if the cap on not on really tight, and sometime hard to handle when they are full and tipping them up to the car. The newer cans are absolutely a nightmare; gas spills all over the place when I try to empty my cans into a vehicle. I've finally started transferring the gas from the newer cans into the older cans, and then into the car... what a waste of time!!! One of tops on my cans broke in storage, and It was one of my better cans..... I contemplated purchasing a $100+ 14 gallon tank just to make life easier, but I couldn't justify the money.... I was looking for replacement caps/spouts, when I came across the TERAPUMP 2D Battery Hand Fuel Pump; looking at the reviews and ratings, I hesitated for only a minute. My only reservation was the batteries. I do not use D batteries for anything; I buy AA by the case, so along with my purchase I ordered a pack of AA to D adapter cases. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094DH1E2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00). When the unit arrived, I immediately loaded it with the battery adapters, and flipped it on. I was disappointed.... it didn't sound like it was going to be a very powerful unit.... it just sort of hummed. Reluctantly, I filled up a large cup with water and tried it out. WOW! It sucked up that water in no time at all. It was incredible. Next venture was to transfer gasoline from one of my cans into my jeep. I had a 5 gallon can, and it transferred in a matter of minutes. Much, quicker than pouring directly from the can into the car, and I won't even compare from tank to tank to car! I only have two dislikes.... I don't like D batteries for anything, but my workaround for this worked perfectly. I don't like that you have to rinse the unit when you are done with it. This, of course, is not an issue with the unit, it's a preventative measure to keep the unit from getting all gummed up; the nature of the materials being pumped. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who needs to transfer gas from cans to car....... I would definitely buy again.

Purchased in September of 2016 and still going strong in 2023!
I bought this transfer pump back in September of 2016 and it has been completely reliable and amazingly convenient for helping me to keep fresh fuel (gasoline) in my equipment, particularly over the winter months. While I do run premium fuel that I treat with fuel stabilizer every single time, I do like to transfer the fuel out (which I then run in my truck) well before it can go bad. I then replace it with fresh, treated, premium fuel again. I have been doing this for years now and it has worked flawlessly for me in terms of not having any fuel related problems, and it's been made much easier by using this transfer pump. Compared to other transfer pumps out there, this one only requires two AA batteries. Other models I see out there often require two D-cell batteries, or six AA batteries! That alone was one of the reasons I chose this pump over others that were available. To the best of my recollection, I am still using the same AA batteries that I installed when I got the pump!!! I would also add that for my purposes, this transfer pump is plenty fast and the claimed 2.8 GPM seems very accurate to me. This pump is fantastic. Here I am, after more than seven years of use on this pump, writing this review, and it is still going strong. I really have no complaints at all about the pump itself - it is a five-star product. But, one thing that irks me a bit is that the price has crept up. As a result of that price increase, I'm going with four stars on this otherwise fantastic transfer pump.

Small pump, BIG value and reduces risk of spillage when fueling boat!
The fuel filler cap on my pontoon boat is well up the flat sidewall on the outside (Port) wall. A 5 gal. gas can had to be held at a very awkward angle to get fuel into the tank. Risk of spills into the lake were too great, so I poured small amounts at a time into a curved neck funnel. Took me several hours to fill the 35 gal. tank...clearly an unacceptable practice. The I found this pump. Simple, affordable and IT WORKS! Much better than siphoning because the gas can sits flat on the dock, the pump transfers the fuel to my boat tank and all I have to do is hold the hose in the filler hole! Even with the water-motion of the boat, this is a very stable, low-risk way to fill the tank. Pumps over one gallon per minute--not too fast and not too slow. I recommend this pump for filling fuel into lawn mowers, boats...even cars. Small, lightweight, this can be carried in a trunk along with a small gas can for a time when you might run out of gas. A real lifesaver.

It filled my Motorcycle with ease Update
I started reading the negative reviews and noticed the need to add how reliability my pump has been for this past year. After one year of using it every 3 days the pump works perfectly. It shuts of when it is supposed to and pumps perfectly. The gas container sits on the ground... never one problem. Bought a spare in case this one ever dies. In storing this pump I am careful. I let it dry and then put it flat in a storage container. Not once has it ever not worked perfectly. 5 gallon gas container on ground and nozzle in the motorcycle, turn on and immediately it started to fill the tank. Listened just in case it did not auto shut off but it did. No instructions needed. Insert batteries, put one end in container and the nozzle in, and it fills up quickly. The quality look okay, I will store it nicely however the performance is flawless. I am very glad I bought it. If it ever broke I would probably buy another

Leaks Internally Where The Hose Comes Out
I tested it twice with my Honda generator before a trip. While it pumps quickly, which is great, the sensor is slightly slow and even if it was a bit quicker the tube is full of gas when it shuts off, so the generator tank overflows making a huge mess even when I was sure to put the tube in as far into the tank as the tank neck of tank that the Honda EU2200i allows. The sensor should have an extension feature or you will have to assure that it's almost an all "uphill" feed. But gasoline leaks out of all the seams near where the tube comes out of the body at the top. I applied J-B Weld to the seams and tube connection but since the leak is internal that's just going to create an internal pool which will destroy the insides quickly. It'd be nice to know how to take it apart and fix the poor design or defective manufacturing so it'd work correctly as I would love this this thing to work and last. Perhaps reaching out will get a replacement which is not defective IDK. UPDATE: I purchased the unit Jun 8th, for a camping trip at the end of July, it was defective in a week by the third test use (would pump but stop sensor failed). TERA PUMP sent a replacement unit in mid September, so I will give the new unit a few tries, and let you know what happens. I added a star for the fairness of customer service to relent and ultimately send a replacement. More stars coming if the new unit doesn't leak and it works for a fair period of time.

Why didn't I ever think of this before?
After having wasted enough money spilling gas all over my mower while filling its tank with a 5 gallon monster container and developing a backache doing so week after week, I was fed up! Out of the blue I thought that there has got to be a siphon-pump solution that can help with my situation. After all there are millions of people out there with riding gas mowers and I'm pretty sure not everyone must be throwing away money by splish sploshing gas all over the place while doing a clumsy job filling the mower manually tilting a humungous gas container over a small opening and expecting all gas to seamlessly go in (in spite of a funnel). So I came on amazon and searched for the best siphon pumps. And the TeraPump showed up with really good reviews. After reading a few of those I was convinced that this was the solution for me. I ordered, it was Prime eligible, the package arrived promptly and I was pleased with the overall product packaging. The instructions included were clear and the product felt overall quite high quality. As the instructions stated, I put in the batteries and immersed the pump in the 5-gallon container and put the other end of the pipe into the mower gas tank. And turned the thing on. It literally took the TeraPump perhaps 20 seconds to fill up my entire mower's tank. A process that would otherwise lead to a ton of aggravation, wasted gas and would take me a few minutes of frustration at the very least to get the job done. At the end of the day, i am very pleased with this product and wish I had thought about this before. No spilled gas and within seconds TeraPump helps fill up my mower's tank and no more backache!!
