SmallRig Full Camera Cage for Sony Alpha 7R V/IV/S III/A7R IV/Alpha 1-3667B

Do you need a camera cage? I asked myself this question a lot and I finally answered myself with a yes and made the purchase. It's been on my camera ever since. I think my thoughts at first regarding camera cages were that it would be intrusive and bulky and I would just end up taking it off and not using it. But that is not the case at all. I love having it on my camera and it never comes off.I don't just use it for video either. I leave it on even when I am just taking photos. I mean, the arca swiss bottom gives me the ability to mount it to a tripod whenever I need to. My Sony A7IV also sits flat when I set it down. The normal tripod mounts don't span the entire bottom of the camera so it doesn't sit flat. With this cage, I can set it down flat without worrying about it not sitting level. I love it! The cage is so versatile. I can add a top handle, a side handle, a screen, a portable light, a microphone, there are sooooo many options that having this cage opens for you. I typically have a microphone and my top handle but I could just as easily take the handle off and pop it right on my gimbal as well or right on my tripod.The cage itself is high quality metal and fits the camera well. I like the added protection of having the cage on the camera in the event I accidently dropped the camera. I feel like it adds that extra layer of protection. I also don't mind the little battery door either. I know some people say it's inconvenient but it doesn't bother me to have to move a little metal piece out of the way to swap batteries. It's also very lightweight as well. It doesn't add much in the sense of weight which is nice because I have some pretty heavy lenses and I like to trim off weight wherever I can afford it. I was going to go with a half cage but I’m happy I ended up opting for the full cage. I feel like having the additional side mounting options really increases its versatility.Smallrig makes nice gear and their options are fantastic for their camera cages and attachments for the camera cages. I really like the smallrig ecosystem and am very satisfied with this camera cage.

I recently bought the SmallRig Full Camera Cage for my Sony A7 IV, and I'm really happy with it! It's lightweight, yet sturdy enough to handle all of my shoots. I love how easy it is to attach and detach the camera from the cage with just a few screws. The mounting points on the cage are very convenient and allow me to mount whatever accessories I need without taking up too much space.The top handle makes it easy to carry the cage around with me wherever I go, while still providing plenty of protection for the camera body. The extra side and bottom plates provide added stability when shooting handheld or on a tripod. And if I ever need more protection, there are also optional rubber dampeners that can be attached to protect the camera from any bumps or drops.Overall, I am definitely happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this full camera cage for anyone looking for an affordable way to protect their Sony A7 IV from scratches and other damage. It provides excellent protection without adding too much bulk or weight which is great for traveling photographers who want to keep their equipment light but still protected.

Used on my Sony a7IV. Easy to fit on camera, very light-weight but incredibly well made. Plenty of 1/4" attachment points, cold shoe and built in Arca-Swiss bottom plate. It both protects and enhances the camera functionality. The little tool that's held magnetically on the bottom is brilliant. Every Small Rig product I own has been put to use and done it's job extremely well. (also have the camera cage wrist strap w/this)

Love the cage. Definitely adds a lot more options for videography. It’s essential and very high build quality.

I have 2 Sony a7iv cameras with small rig cages on both, they fit great with plenty of mounting points for accessories.

Like: Magnetically attached tool. Quality design & manufacturing. Angled cold shoes on both sides, left side angled more than right. Many mounting options. Secure attachment to camera. Does not interfere with hot shoe, controls or access doors. Arca-Swiss integrated mount on bottom. Left side cage creates kind of a grip on left side. When mounted in the camera hot shoe my Godox Xpro trigger will allow mounting of either the Godox V350 or Godox TT685 in either of the cage's cold shoes.Ok: Left camera strap must be relocated to cage. Right is not necessary, but eyelet ring rubs on cage. No Arca-Swiss mounting on left side. Right side of cage adds some width to grip. It's well shaped to the camera grip. Did not seem to be a problem for me. When mounted in the camera hot shoe The Godox X1 series trigger will not allow my Godox speedlights in the right cold shoe. The X2 series triggers will not allow the speedlights in the left cold shoe.Not like: If using a camera strap & speedlight in either of the cage cold shoes the strap will bind on the speedlight. Left side cold shoe has a relief cut in the top front of the cold shoe that causes less than full engagement of my Godox speedlights shoes which is not that great on Sony speedlight shoes anyway.Recommended? Yes, but I need speedlights & straps mounted on the cage at the same time.

this cage is amazing, i love it! 🙌🏼 i used to have another smallrig cage, but it didn’t have the arca swiss mount at the bottom—this one does, and it’s a game changer. no more extra mounts for my gimbal, tripod, etc. i can just snap it on and go!the mount points are super useful, and having the nato rail on the side is a nice bonus if i ever need it. overall, an awesome cage that makes my workflow so much smoother! 🚀
