Looks very nice but is a bit complicated to use

Very happy with this purchase. True to colour, easy to use and looks good. Only negative; arrived with an English plug!

This purchase served as more of a decorative item kitchen accessory than a microwave and even then the words start were half rubbed off when in the box. Pretty to look at and soft to touch but not worth the dollar

Most people that pick this microwave are probably choosing it because it is probably about as stylish as a freestanding microwave can be. Price-wise it's also pretty competitive and is often on sale. It looks as good in person as it does in pictures, with the only slight caveats being that the shiny door is a fingerprint magnet, the handle is not actually real wood, and the cream colour doesn't match the colour of the oval cream bread bin made by the same company. As already mentioned by others, the mirrored door also makes it completely impossible to see through it even when the internal light is on. The clock display is a bright white and I wish it could be dimmed. The controls are standard for cheap microwaves, and it does have that essential quick start (press the start button to get 1 minute, then you can use the dial to change it) for those that don't care for advanced functions. I think the software must be mass produced for multiple brands as my last microwave had pretty much the exact same controls. The more advanced functions are not intuitive but can be learned. Like my old microwave, it beeps loudly when finished and if you don't open the door, continues to beep at you until you do. Really annoying. In terms of functionality, it has defrost settings and you can set a limited programme. I don't know why it doesn't have more memory for more steps in the programme. The auto cook functions aren't very helpful in my opinion - for example the success of the defrost will vary wildly depending on what you are defrosting. Soup? Yes. Lasagne? Hahaha absolutely not. Another negative is that the manual suggests you can programme a delayed start (e.g. because you want some rice to be cooked and ready for when you're due home). You can't actually do this, the manual is wrong. Following the instructions to delay the start actually just sets the clock. Figuring that out was half an hour of my life that I'll never get back. My last microwave was also 800w and was just about still working, and I ran the two together with an identical mug full of an identical volume of water. This one heated the water less than my old microwave, so I do believe other reviewers that have found this one to be a bit slow. That said, it wasn't that much of a difference. If you can live with the basic software, the opaque door, the loud beeps and the bright clock, you won't regret having to look at this appliance on your kitchen counter. If you want a really simple, cheap microwave, don't get this - get one with two dials only. If you want something with fancy functions, also don't get this because at it's heart it is cheap and basic. I guess those are the two main reasons that Amazon currently warns you that this product has a higher than average return rate. But, it does look great.

This is the second time I purchased the same model, and both times it malfunctioned within a month. The first time, it simply stopped heating. The microwave powered on, the turntable spun and the light worked, but there was no heat. Reviews suggested it may have auto-switched to demo mode. I tried resetting it using the instructed button combinations, but nothing worked, so I returned it to the retailer for a refund. I then found the same model (in a different colour) on a Black Friday deal and, against my husband’s better judgement, bought it again. Within less than two weeks, a hairline crack appeared in the glass behind the handle, despite minimal use. This is consistent with heat-stress failure and it was returned for a refund. I will never buy Swan products again. They are pretty swans on the outside, but ugly ducklings when it comes to function and safe use. Bottom line: don’t be lured by the beautiful design. This is a very poor-quality product. I have always owned microwaves that lasted for many years, but two units failing in under a month? That is not bad luck! Other reviews confirm poor product quality.

When we moved I, mom and I purchased the flats previous tenant microwave. It gave us two years before giving up its ghost and stopping abruptly. Purchased a digital m/wave from local Co-op . Lasted two days before it’s digital component mal-functioned . Got another from Wilco in the High street. It’s still brilliant but the enameling under the glass plate perioused and always looked dirty. Got a analog stainless interior but I was used to digital. The Wilco and the analog are in storage now . The current microwave, the Swan , is awesome . Bought a stand which arrived seven days after the Swan . Didn’t unbox it till the stand arrived. I was so glad I did as the swan looks much better at chest height. Can see into it without bending while cooking or do scrambled eggs that needs monitoring. Also has simple operating. Haven’t looked at the instructions which I put under it , just in case .
