Updated review, from 4 to 5 stars
Updated 7/26/22So as my dog's mobility has continued to decline I went ahead and purchased a boot for his left foot. The boot that was sent, even though it said it was a size small, was actually quite a bit smaller than the right boot which was also a small (second photo). I contacted the seller and she immediately sent me a new boot without any issue. The new boot is the same size as the other. These Boots aren't perfect . As one other reviewer commented on, it would help if the straps were different colors, sometimes I undo the tethers that keep the toe up when I mean to undo the strap from his hock, different color straps would allow fastening the boots more quickly. If you have never put boots on a dog before, especially one that falls over, they usually don't stand still very long. The other issue is I wish the rings on the on the boot we're connected to the outside of the boot and not inside. I can actually feel the ring inside when I put my hand in and I am not sure whether or not that causes any pain to my dog when he's walking. Also I have wondered if having tethers to a harness that would pull the leg forward might be a better solution than the straps around the hocks. Overall, however, I give this product five stars because even with the high cost it is a quality product, the customer service is excellent and there really isn't anything out there on the market like it.Original:I got this for my dog that has a gimpy back right leg. He drags his foot and then will stand on his knuckles. This boot keeps him from standing on his knuckles but it doesn't keep him from dragging his foot completely. It is very well made and will last through all the dragging foot scuffing. Be aware that the price is for ONE BOOT ONLY. I didn't realize this and thought I would get 2 for the price (which seems high). That being said, we will probably need another boot eventually when his left foot goes and will pay the price for it too.

Size
They were much bigger than I expected but the return process was fairly easy except it didn’t give me an option to have the refund put on an Amazon card.

Good product just not a good fit for us
We did have to return both the small and extra small we ordered simply because they just did not fit our cat's foot right. The top velcro slid past her joint no matter how we had it and the boot part just did not fit her well. That being said I think the product itself seems well made and would probably work for others if needing just the toes to not turn under.

Works
Ordered July 28, didn't arrive until Aug 7 and not because of a shipping issue. Processing took the longest, well made dog tolerates, it does stop the knuckling. Aside from processing happy with product.

Protective and supportive, but quick to wear and tear
The media could not be loaded. These shoes have been a game changer for my dog with IVDD. They were true to size—I thought my dog would be a medium shoe, but based on the sizing chart, she was a at the maximum small width but it’s the perfect fit (ordered a medium to just see, and it was much too large so I returned). There are a few steps involved to slip on each dogs paw and then secure the shoe and adjust the strap, but you get quicker at those steps and if your dog needs to keep their toes from dragging and paws from slipping, these shoes are the way to go! my senior dog could barely walk with Ruff Wear shoes on her paws, and she all over the place. She seems much more comfortable in these shoes and makes an effort to walk more/further with less support. The downside to these shoes: one shoe is about $70 (so $140 for a pair), and a shoe order does not include any replacement pieces like velcro straps, bungee cord, etc, so you have to order those replacements pieces separately online if they wear and tear or get lose. My dog did a number on her 1st set of shoes within just 6 months, so I bought 2 more. She wears them on her back paws only. But pending how bad your dog drags their feet, or how well they are walking, will depend how quickly these get damaged/worn. I’m glad I ordered a 2nd pair just in case a shoe gives out and because now she always has pair to wear in between me washing. Yes, they are machine washable and pretty easy to keep clean. My dog is now in a wheelchair, but keeps these shoes on her back paws for protection since she is still using some leg and paw movement on many different terrains. Just an FYI—when the shoe(s) do start to wear and tear, please monitor so your dogs paw is not injured and consider the at-home solution below that may be helpful. If the “ring” that attaches the bungee cord to the shoe does begin to frays, thin wire is exposed that would be uncomfortable and could cut/poke your dogs paw since the ring loops through the shoe, so be sure to look over the shoes each time before putting the shoes on your dog. If that “ring piece” does ruin and wire is exposed, you can order a new piece or just create a make shift ring out of a small black zip tie, which is exactly what I did for her first pair so that we could keep using as back up shoes. If the bungee cord starts to fray, you can use black plumbers tape or duck tape to add more protection and durability, making that piece last much longer.

Knuckle boot
Size was larger than expected for a small, even though I measured. The boot tends to slip downward and doesn’t stay up towards the ankle. There needs to be a strap or two that go over the ankle to keep the boot from slipping downward.
