Excellent. Very Pleased. What a bargain.
I love this new hood. I had a 10 year old hood over my stove - black no less. We recently did renovations to our home, so we are updating all appliances. We want everything to be stainless, so this hood caught our attention given the low price. Honestly, given the price, we were doubtful about the quality of the hood. Also, I read several reviews regarding units being received with dents, etc. My hood was received in perfect condition. It only took 2 days for the hood to arrive. Installation was very easy. I was able to install it myself, and Im a 58 year old man with very little experience with such things. Now its easier with 2 people but you can do it yourself if you're of a mind. Once installed, the hood looks great. I was very pleased. Its amazing how much it spruces up the kitchen. The stainless steel is just the best way to go. It looks great and its durable. And easy to clean. As far as performance goes, the hood seems to work great. It has two power settings, lo and high. On high, it sucks up alot of air. If you put your hand up close to it, you can feel the suction. Also, this hood will take a 60 watt light bulb, so plenty of lighting capacity. I would say do not hesitate to buy this hood at this price. It looks great (see photos) is easy to install, and it performs great.

this was perfect for my needs!
I never had a stove without a range hood, but when I moved in my new house (which is actually a very old house) there were only cabinets above the stove. No hood at all. I really missed the light the most! Venting would have been very difficult as the house is made of stones, and the walls inside are concrete blocks with metal mesh holding plaster. Not a simple drywall type installation at all. So I decided a ventless hood was the best and easiest option for me. I worried that it wouldn't be effective, but it does a surprisingly good job at moving air. A little noisy, but most hoods I have ever owned were slightly noisy. There is a clip-on cover for the front little vents if you indeed have a vented option. I did not know that hood was not shipped with the extra filter needed for ventless operation. There is a mesh cover for the fan, but it is not a filter. Further, the item amazon featured on the hood product page was NOT the one that went with this. I went to the Braun website and still was confused. I finally found the right one: it is this one: Broan #41F Range Hood Filter. There may be non-Broan brand filters available, but I wanted to be sure I got the right one, so I went with the name brand the first time. This filter is installed with the blue side next to the blade and then put the included mesh screen over that. There is a clip that holds them in place. The hood does require hard wiring. I did not have that either!! (Why are these projects always so complicated?!!!) However, there is an item available (and noted on the Broan website) called BR-HCK44 - Range Hood Power Cord Kit. It is "for use when hard wiring is not an option and a plug is needed." There is also a wall mounting bracket (BR-35) for installations where there is no upper cabinetry. I didn't need the bracket as I had upper cabinetry. I don't think either are available here on amazon, but just google the model number/name and you will find one. They are relatively inexpensive. I actually had to run my new plug cord down the wall and use the outlet behind the gas stove. If you have a similar problem, here is my solution, maybe it could work for you, too. I was putting in a glass tile backsplash behind the stove anyway, and wanted wood or ceramic border to "frame" the small tiles. I figured I could use the recess of one of the trim pieces to hide the cord as it ran down the wall and then simply plug it into my grounded outlet behind my gas stove. (Most gas stoves need an outlet behind them for clocks, electric ignition, timers, oven light, etc.) I couldn't find any ceramic that worked, but instead routed out some trim molding with a dremel, tucked the cord behind that channel, and used the wood to frame my tile backsplash. The wood should be safe, it is no closer than any adjacent cabinetry would be. You can't tell there is a cord there, and it is pretty protected from bumps since it is behind the molding. (I just used little finish nails in case I need access to it in the future. I put them in the wood first so I wouldn't nick the cord.) I did need a short grounded extension, too...the add-on cord was only 3 feet long, but the ugly stuff is behind the stove. It was a tricky problem, and some of you may already have wiring in place, but just in case you run into something like I did, I thought I would post my work-around! Maybe I will post a picture of it one of these days! One more tip...if you have to install this by yourself (like I did) it is HARD holding the thing up with one hand (and your head!) and marking the holes for drill/screws with the other! SAVE your packing box, put it on your stove and put the hood on top. It will hold your hood very close to its final position for you so you can make the marks for the screws! I think I added another little amazon box so it sat high enough. OR use the cardboard from the box to make a template for where the drill holes need to be (it is easier to hold cardboard than a range hood!)

Decent for the price
I am reviewing this for what it is - a $30 stove hood!! If you want a $200 stove hood, you should go buy one of those! This fan works great to vent out steam from the stovetop. It is a nice smooth black finish. It was VERY easy to install - this 41 year old female did it alone with a screwdriver and a pair of slip joint pliers. As others have noted, the box is flimsy - you WILL have a minor dent or two. For thirty bucks, I'm ok with that. You will need to knock out the exhaust hole (both center circle and rear mount rectangle configurations are provided). You will need to knock out the electric inlet AND provide a locking device for the wire AND wire nuts. The attachment screws that were included were too short for my cabinet and I had to provide those too - I used the screws from my old unit. This unit is quite loud, but again, thirty bucks.... Overall, it is what is expected it to be and I feel like I got my moneys worth. Would have rated it 5 stars if it were better packaged.

Excellent and stylish entry level hood vent for the money!
We purchased our 1980โs ranch style home almost ten years ago and when we bought the house all of the appliances were 1990โs white, including the Broan range hood. Slowly but surely we have finally managed to switch our kitchen appliances over to stainless steel and believe it or not, we waited over two years to finally purchase a replacement range hood in stainless steel to match all of the kitchen appliances. Enter this Broan stainless steel hood vent. Itโs almost an exact replica of the 1990s white one we were replacing (which was utterly filthy with grease, rust, etc. no matter what amount of cleaning you tried). Now I realize this is more of an entry level range hood, but we have a pretty basic kitchen and obviously this hood vent fit the space just fine as the previous white model did. We are very happy with this hood vent, but then again, weโve essentially been using the same model in white for ten years. There are two exhaust speeds, high and low. And an overhead light. The exhaust fan when in operation is most likely much noisier than much more expensive models. But again, itโs what weโre used to. Once we finally have the $ to replace the kitchen cabinets, countertops, backsplash and flooring, we may look at higher end options. But in the meantime, this hood vent does the job, looks nice and is easy to operate. I could definitely see it being a great option for contractors when flipping a home, someone looking to do a minor kitchen remodel on a tight budget, or just someone looking for a reliable hood vent to match their appliances. I would recommend this hood vent to anyone looking for a decent looking, affordable stainless option. You certainly get more bang for your buck with this Broan hood vent! The vent arrived in pristine condition...no dents in the range hood/vent, no rips or tears in the shipping packaging either. Very satisfied with the condition of the vent upon arrival and Amazonโs packing materials.

Great option for ventless installation.
This product fit our needs perfectly. We had an OTR microwave that we hadn't used in a while because it would work and stop intermittently. For a while we have been using a smaller counter top microwave and even that was hardly used since the air fryer was purchased, but I digress. After months of talking about it and summer projects outside all being put to bed this year the wife and I decided to buy a cheap Range Hood. Never known for my handyman ability we needed one that could be installed ventless as the microwave was not vented and we just had siding and a roof installed on the house and I didn't want to go cutting on either. Having sold appliances in my younger years I went with what I knew was the best value in a ductless vent range hood. This thing couldn't perform any better nor could I be more happy with the way it looks. There are however a couple things you need to know. You need to buy the electric installation kit and if you are doing the ductless installation you need to buy the washable filter for the unit as well. I found both on Amazon and they worked like a charm. I had the ole microwave down and this baby installed in 35 minutes.

Was an upgrade from what I had, and I love it!
We (mostly) redid our kitchen last year. The house was built in the 70โs and has never been remodeled, so we still had the wood-looking laminate cabinets, laminate countertops, laminate flooring, black over range microwave, etc. Very dark since the kitchen is in the middle of the house. We painted all the cabinets white, ripped out the monster of a microwave and now needed to fill that space. I liked the thought of not having to duck down to see what Iโm cooking on the back burner, so we started looking into range hoods. Since any home project turns more expensive than you originally thought because of newly discovered issues, we needed a budget friendly hood which allowed for a rectangular duct at the top, but also from a brand I have heard of. After researching many brands/models and comparing prices from different stores, we decided on this baby. She has been wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I may be talking it up more than others would, but coming from someone who had been used to a dark, dirty and absolutely broken/dead microwave to a bright, spacious range hood, itโs a dream come true. I probably installed it in March or April 2017, and have used it every day to cook since (I like the additional light when I cook on the stove). The fan is amazing and sucks the steam right up. I havenโt burned anything yet to where there is actual smoke that needs to be sucked out, but I cook exclusively with cast iron, and whenever I cook steak or fry some chicken, there is some smoke that comes up, but sucks right out. I mostly use the fan for when Iโm making pasta and boiling the noodles (which is at least once a week). Keeps the kitchen cleared up, doesnโt get my cabinets above the stove all wet from condensation. I love this thing, havenโt had any issues and would highly recommend.

One of the more difficult reviews to compose.
What makes this a challenging review to write is the conflicting points, pros, & cons to consider given that I was replacing a similar unit (which was model 76.000-G with a date code 69F). Yes! Manufactured in June 1969! I found that baffling given that my house was built in 1974 ... this rangehood is over 55 years old! The major reason I was replacing it was that I went from the piecemeal appliance setup I had purchased with the house way back in 1997, to a more uniform stainless arrangement. I eeked every ounce of life I could out of those old appliances for two reasons: First, and most obviously, ... I'm cheap. But second, I knew I was going to be entered the sad realm where appliances were no longer build for longevity. The whole "redo" started with my refrigerator dying. My lord, it had endured some abuse and I do hope it rests peacefully in a better place now (as living in this house certainly didn't provide that). My electric range needed to be replaced. The ceramic cooktop had cracked, and (of course) it was a grimy mess long due for replacing. So, I came across a great second-hand stainless-steel fridge, and later, a beautiful second-hand stainless-steel electric range. The kitchen looked beautiful ... sans the old, greasy covered white painted rangehood. Granted, the ONLY thing wrong with the 55-year-old rangehood (aside from its looks) was that the light lens tab had broken. I figured out a way of squishing a small foam earplug in a way that held it in place (lord knew I was not going to pay the $20 minimum for a replacement ... going back to the level of aforementioned cheapness). However, I really wanted the complete the look by replacing it with a stainless version. I noticed that particular model was no longer manufactured. However, model F3030SF looked to be the closest relation, and it appear to have an identical "footprint." Anything that would make for an easy swap was desired, as it was a ducted installation. If everything lined up well ... that would make it super easy. All that said, now let take a look at the new replacement. First, shipping was fast. And, yes ... this is a fragile ... VERY thin item. Mine had a small dent on the back portion. However, I was able to work it out with my hand (and it was going to be against the wall in the back of the range ... so it wouldn't be noticeable anyway). I figured that, given its fragile nature, if I had the delusion that I was going to receive a 100% unmarred unit ... I would be engaged in quite a lengthy back-and-forth ... and neither I nor Amazon needed that in our lives. Second, it came without instructions and without a plastic light lens (to cover the bulb). I was able to find the instruction manual online. I wrote to Broan-NuTone explaining what happened as asking if they could send me out a light lens. They were very fast to respond (props to them) with this: "As of May 2024, this hood is now UL listed for use with an LED bulb. LED bulbs do not require the same protection as an incandescent type of bulb. For this reason, the light lens is no longer included with the range hood. However, it can be purchased separately if needed using part number S99110437." This was a cherry on top of the "cake of disappointment" which ... I knew I was ordering when I chose to move from quality build appliances of the past, to those in existence today. It is simply appalling to see the rock-solid build of my old rangehood and compare it to the plastic-strewn version slapped together for today's markets. Granted, I do very much appreciate the light-weight nature of today's appliances (oh my lord ... moving my old tank of a refrigerator out of my house was an exercise I wish to never again endure ... and the replacement? ... getting it in the house was "like butter"). Install was easy-peasy (everything DID lineup which was exactly what I needed). And, with everything mounted and ready ... it is gorgeous! I LOVE the look it provides (which, is exactly what I was purchasing it for in the first place). So, basically ... I'm going to have to "get over" the inner turmoil that this rangehood replacement it a sad metaphor for our currently social media, device addicted society. You know what mean, right? Gorgeous and glitzy on the outside ... with very little substance under the hood. I ordered the dang light lens ($9) and ordered some charcoal filters (figured that would help further protect the cheap, plastic fan from grease ... just as I wanted to protect the exposed LED bulb from the same). All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. I know I don't sound it ... but I am. I'm just hoping to warn you of the "inner turmoil" you, too, will endure if replacing a rock-solid older unit. Yet, again, for me not to have known that going in ... certainly would have been naive at best. I'd say a solid 3.5 stars is a reasonable and just rating overall. Cheers!

Good value, great product
Bought this to replace an old hood fan. Love that it can be used for both systems. With exhaust or without. It was easy to install. Works great! And looks much nicer then the old one.
